Outboard Rigging Guide - 2001 701 Remote Control Assy.
4. Adjust the throttle cable terminal (at the
motor end) and line up with the hole or pin on
the throttle arm. Connect the terminal to the
arm.
If full throttle is still reached before hitting the
stop in the control, the travel should be limited
by stop of some sort under the hand lever.
Excess pressure on the hand lever at full throt-
tle could damage the cable, control, or motor.
Shift Cable Connection
Proper adjustment of the shift cable will result in
a better operating control.
1. Attach the control cable to the shift arm in the
motor.
2. Operate the hand lever several times to verify
proper operation. Make sure that the
Forward, Neutral, and Reverse posi-
tions on the hand lever correspond to the
same position of the motor shift arm.
Over-jamming the shift stop at either end of
the lever travel may cause excessive wear of the
control or engine components, a heavy feel of
the hand lever, or overstress and damage the
cable.
Do not force shift the motor when it is not run-
ning. Damage to the control, cables, or motor
may occur.
