Getting Started

Power Requirements

PortaSound runs on batteries or optional Yamaha AC Power Adaptors.

Using an AC Power Adaptor

Connect to wall socket using Yamaha PA-1/1B/3 adaptor. Use of others may cause damage.

Inserting Batteries

Insert six 1.5-volt AA batteries, ensuring correct terminal alignment.

When the Batteries Run Down

Replace batteries when voltage drops. Never mix old and new batteries.

Accessory Jacks

Includes HEADPHONES/AUX. OUT for private practice and external connection.

Using Headphones

Connect stereo headphones to HEADPHONES/AUX. OUT for private practice. Speaker cuts off.

Connecting a Keyboard Amplifier or Stereo System

Connect one end of stereo audio cable to LINE IN/AUX. IN of device and other to PortaSound's jack.

Playing Your New PortaSound

Selecting Modes

Select STYLE, VOICE, or SONG mode using the MUSIC MODE SELECTOR.

Playing a Demonstration Song

Select Songs using Numeric Keypad and play with DEMO button. Adjust volume with VOLUME buttons.

Using the +/- Buttons

Step up or down through preset numbers. Features 'wrap around' feature.
