(4) Check the Exposure and Shoot. Press the shutter release
button lightly and check the LED indicators within the viewfinder.
If any of the LEDs from "1000" to "LT" light, the indicated shutter
speed will give you the correct exposure, and you may press the
shutter release button further to take the picture.
<Shooting at Your Selected Shutter Speed> By applying the
interrelation between aperture setting and shutter speed (the larger
the aperture, the faster the shutter speed, and vice versa), your can
vary the aperture setting in order to photograph your subject at a
particular shutter speed when desired.
<Shooting Away from Viewfinder in Auto Mode> Exposure
metering can be affected by stray light entering via the eyepiece
when it is left unshielded during Auto mode shooting using a self-
timer or remote control accessory. In this case, attach an accessory
eyecup to the viewfinder eyepiece as shown in the illustration,
slide it up and fold the rubber part so that it blocks out any stray
light.4www.butkus.org
Exposure compensation
In automatic exposure photography, there may be cases when
correct exposure of the subject cannot be achieved normally
due to strong backlighting, or a large difference in the amount
of light falling on the subject and background. In these cases,
as well as when you wish to take deliberately under or
overexposed photographs for special effects, exposure
compensation is necessary. The FX-70 Quartz is equipped
with a one-touch AE lock lever, and an exposure
compensation scale, both of which allow you to perform
exposure compensation when required.
<Using the AE (Automatic Exposure) Lock Lever>
This device memorizes the exposure (shutter speed) at time of
exposure metering. When the AE lock lever is turned in the
direction of the handgrip, the shutter speed indicated at that time
will be memorized inside the camera, and the LED beside that
shutter speed in the viewfinder will begin flashing. To expose the
picture, press the shutter release button while continuing to hold
the AE Lock lever in position. When the AE Lock lever is
released, the memorized shutter speed will be cleared, and the
LED will light steadily, automatically going out 10 seconds later.
