cry. For ways to soothe her, see Point 3. When Elli Smiles is woken by her mummy wearing her necklace, she
will smile, say ‘mummy’ and sigh. (Pic. 6)
• wet her nappy when she is fed. Her tummy needs to be pressed for this. Elli Smiles will make sounds and

Dealing with problems:
Elli does not react as described. Please check the batteries (see Fig. 1). Are the
batteries empty? Are they inserted properly? Are
they inserted in the right way round? Insert new
batteries if required.
Functions cease working. Please remove the batteries, reinsert them and
switch Elli back ON.
Elli does not make sucking sounds with her bottle. Please push the bottle a little further into the
mouth of Elli.
Elli does not suck on her dummy, there are no
sucking sounds.
Please push the dummy a little further into the
mouth of Elli
Elli does not suck the bottle, the water runs out of
her mouth, no smacking sounds.
The bottle has to be pushed right into the mouth
of Elli and at the same time, the bottle has to be
gently squeezed so that the water can run into the
intended vessel.
When feeding the doll, insert the bottle
properly into the mouth opening. Please
notice that the doll is not able to suck water.
The water needs to be fed by pressing the
bottle. A repeated pressing and releasing
of the pressure on the bottle supports the
drinking. It helps to ll the tank inside the doll
gradually.
Water runs out of Elli’s mouth. The bottle is not inserted far enough into Elli’s
mouth. Or Elli has had enough to drink, the tear
vessel is now sufciently full.
Elli has been fed with juice or tea by mistake. Please feed Elli with clean water straight away
and let her cry for quite some time until her tears
are clear again.
Elli Smiles does not react to the necklace. Press the button on the necklace again to
reactivate it. Or Check the batteries in the
necklace and replace if necessary.
Or Press and hold the button for 10 seconds to
reset the necklace.
