Factors That Influence Aromatherapy Vaporization
Vaporization of aromatic plant compounds may be influenced by a number of factors,
including:
Quantity the amount of aromatic plant material put into the device.
Qualitythe concentration of aromatic compounds in plant material.
Temperature the degree of heat applied. Suitable aromatic plants have
varying recommended temperatures, which are listed on the previous page.
Surface Area finely ground aromatic plant material maximizes surface area
and vaporizes more efficiently.
The active compounds of aromatic plants are released over a period of time; the
vaporization process may be repeated multiple times with the same aromatic plant
material in the basket. Based on the above factors, aromatic plant material may
provide multiple repetitions until all aromas and aromatic compounds are fully
volatilized.
For suitable aromatic plant materials, increased temperatures may volatilize a great
amount of aromatic compounds; however, increased temperature may result in hotter,
less pleasant vapor and squander aromatic compounds.
The vapor density inside the bag should be watched. Fine, white vapor typically has
the optimal flavor and aroma. Denser vapor may be too strong and in cases of overly
great density may cause irritation to the respiratory tract.
NOTICE
The Zephyr Ion Aromatherapy Vaporization system is not a medical device and is
neither designed nor intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or illness.
Please consult your doctor if you have any health problems requiring attention. Just as
common foods like bread, milk, and nuts may cause allergic reactions in some persons,
in rare instances aromatic plants may induce adverse effects, including allergic
reactions, and throat or stomach irritations. In such cases, the individual should
discontinue use of the herb in question. Do not use aromatic plants or aromatic plant
compounds that are not recommended by a reputable source, such as a licensed
aromatherapist or herbalist. This statement has not been evaluated by the FDA.
