SECTION 4A - SYSTEM PROGRAMMING
Numeric msg formatting
Numeric message punctuation insertion: initial setting is "Disabled"
When enabled, punctuation is inserted into Golay numeric pages so that
they will resemble telephone numbers. This can be useful for Overdial
Paging since the - (hyphen) and space characters are not available on
the phone dial. Messages that do not resemble telephone numbers are
not formatted. This setting has no effect on POCSAG paging.
Paging Formats (F)
The Paging Format table allows the operator to configure as many as
eight combinations of signaling format, maximum message length, and
transmission rate.
Format number (0-7)
This number is defined by the following parameters: Format Type,
Message Length, and Transmission Rate, if applicable. It is one of
eight possible Paging Table entries. Select a number to review and
set the options as required for your pagers. Press CR when finished
programming as many formats as need to be used.
As each parameter is programmed the current setting is displayed.
Press CR to keep the current setting, or input a new one.
Format type (0-7)
Paging format selection: initial set to installed formats
Select the paging format for this block (see Configuration for a list
of the installed formats).
0 POCSAG tone only, numeric, and alphanumeric
1 Golay GSC tone only, numeric, and alphanumeric
Max msg length (0-500)
Message length restriction: initial settings are "0"
The longest message that the terminal will send to a POCSAG or Golay
(GSC) type pager is 500 characters. This value determines the longest
message that can be sent to any User assigned this Format. Messages
any longer will be truncated to this length. If Max msg length is set
to "0", any User assigned this Format will receive tone only pages.
If the Format type is 0 = POCSAG...
Baud: (0) 512 (1) 1200 (DOES NOT APPLY TO GOLAY)
Transmission rate selection: initial settings are "0" for 512 bps
The terminal can transmit POCSAG type pages at 512 bits per second or
1200 bits per second. Select "0" for 512, "1" for 1200.
