Function Description:
The Zojirushi Micom Cooker and Warmer is a versatile kitchen appliance designed primarily for cooking rice, keeping it warm, slow cooking, and steaming. It utilizes a microprocessor (MICOM) to adjust cooking temperatures and times for various rice types and cooking styles, ensuring optimal results. Usage Features:
- Control Panel: Features a digital display, CANCEL, KEEP WARM, SLOW COOK, TIMER, MENU, START/REHEAT, and TIME SETTING buttons. The display shows current time, menu settings, and estimated cooking/warming times.
- Clock Setting: The internal clock operates in 24-hour military time and can be adjusted using the TIME SETTING button. A lithium battery ensures time and menu settings are saved even when unplugged.
- Sound Signals: Users can choose between melody, beep, or silent modes for notifications such as cooking start, timer completion, and cooking completion.
- Rice Cooking Steps: Involves measuring rice with the provided cup, cleaning rice, adjusting water level (guidelines provided for different rice types and desired textures), placing the Inner Cooking Pan, Inner Lid Set, and Steam Vent Set, closing the Outer Lid, connecting power, selecting the desired menu, and pressing START/REHEAT.
- Keep Warm Mode: Automatically activates after cooking. Regular Keep Warm maintains a higher temperature, while Extended Keep Warm maintains a slightly lower temperature to reduce drying and yellowing over longer periods. The display shows elapsed warm-keeping time.
- Reheating Rice: Allows reheating of rice in Keep Warm mode to optimal serving temperature. Users must loosen and level the rice, add a tablespoon of water per bowl for small amounts, and then press START/REHEAT.
- Timer Cooking: Enables setting a specific time for cooking completion. Two timer presets (Timer 1 and Timer 2) are available.
- Slow Cook Setting: Allows users to set cooking times from 1 minute to 4 hours. It's crucial to follow recipes and not overfill the Inner Cooking Pan.
- Steam Function: Requires adding a specific amount of water to the Inner Cooking Pan, placing food in the Steaming Basket, and selecting the STEAM menu. Steaming times range from 1 minute to 60 minutes.
- Safety Precautions: Emphasizes not modifying the cooker, avoiding wet hands when handling plugs, not immersing the unit in water, keeping children away, not opening the Outer Lid during cooking, and using only for intended purposes. It also warns against damaging the power cord, using incorrect power sources, and blocking the air vent.
Maintenance Features:
- Cleaning: The appliance should be unplugged and allowed to cool before cleaning.
- Exterior: Wipe with a well-wrung soft cloth. The Air Vent should be cleaned with a vacuum cleaner monthly.
- Inner Cooking Pan, Spatula, Steaming Basket, Measuring Cup: Wash with neutral kitchen detergent and a soft sponge. Avoid abrasive cleaners, scrubbing brushes, dishwashers, or dish dryers.
- Inner Lid Set: Rinse in hot or cold water, wash with a soft sponge, and dry thoroughly. It can be detached for thorough cleaning.
- Steam Vent Set: Detachable for cleaning. The Steam Vent Case can be turned counterclockwise to remove, and the Steam Vent Gasket can be removed with a toothpick.
- Outer Lid and Steam Vent: Wipe with a slightly damp soft cloth.
- Heating Plate and Center Sensor: Wipe with a slightly damp soft cloth. Stuck rice or foreign matter can be polished off with fine sandpaper (320 grit) after dipping in water, or removed with a bamboo skewer.
- Odor Removal: If odors persist, clean the cooker thoroughly, especially the interior, and use the Regular Keep Warm mode. An "IF THERE IS AN ODOR" function (pg. 20) describes a specific cleaning cycle using water to eliminate smells.
- Troubleshooting Guide: Provides solutions for common issues such as rice being too hard/soft, scorched, unevenly cooked, boiling over, or issues with starting cooking, steam leakage, and unusual noises.
