RMONOverview
TheRemoteMonitoring(RMON)denesstandardnetworkmoni-
toringfunctionandthecommunicationinterfacebetweentheman-
agementconsoleandtheremotemonitor .RMONoffersanefcient
andhighavailabilitymethodtomonitorthebehaviorsofsubnets
incaseofreducingtheloadofotheragentsandmanagementsta-
tions.
RMONspecicationsrefertothedenitionofRMONMIB.ZXR10
2900supportsfourgroupsofRMONMIB.
�History:recordstheperiodicstatisticssampleoftheinforma-
tionthatcanbeobtainedfromthestatisticsgroup.
�Statistics:maintainsthebasicapplicationanderrorstatistics
ofeachsubnetthattheagentmonitors.
�Event:itisatablerelatedtoalleventsgeneratedbyRMON
agents.
�Alarm:allowsoperatorsofthemanagementconsoletoset
samplingintervalandalarmthresholdforanycountorinteger
recordedbyRMONagents.
Allthesegroupsareusedtostorethedatacollectedbythemonitor
andthederiveddataandstatistics.Thealarmgroupisbased
ontheimplementationoftheeventgroup.Thesedatacanbe
obtainedthroughtheMIBbrowser .
TheRMONcontrolinformationcanbeconguredthroughtheMIB
browser ,andaHyperT erminalorremoteTelnetcommandline.The
RMONsamplinginformationandstatisticsareobtainedthrough
theMIBbrowser .
