TheusernetworkisgenerallyconnectedtothePEthroughthe
TrunkVLANmode.TheinternalUplinkportsoftheISPnetwork
aresymmetricallyconnectedthroughtheTrunkVLANmode.
1.Whenapacketissentformusernetwork1tothecustomer
portofswitchA,becausethePORTBASEVLAN-basedcustomer
portdoesnotidentifythetagwhenreceivingthepacket,the
customerportprocessesthepacketasanuntaggedpacket
nomatterwhetherthisdatapacketisattachedwiththeVLAN
tagornot.ThepacketisforwardedbytheVLAN10,whichis
determinedbythePVID.
2.TheuplinkportofswitchAinsertstheoutertag(VLANID:10)
whenforwardingthedatapacketreceivedfromthecustomer
port.Thetpidofthistagcanbeconguredontheswitch.
InsidetheISPnetwork,thepacketisbroadcastalongtheport
ofVLAN10untilitreachestheswitchB.
3.SwitchBndsoutthattheportconnectedtousernetwork2is
acustomerport.Thus,itremovestheoutertagincompliance
withtheconventional802.1Qprotocoltorecovertheoriginal
packetandsendsthepackettousernetwork2.
4.Inthisway,databetweenusernetwork1andusernetwork
2canbetransmittedtransparently.TheVLANIDoftheuser
networkcanbeplannedregardlessoftheconictwiththeVLAN
IDintheISPnetwork.
