Overview

This document is an assembly guide and warranty for the 2MamaBees Montessori House Bed Frame with Rails.

Function Description:

The 2MamaBees Montessori House Bed Frame with Rails is a bed frame designed for children aged 2 to 10 years. It features a house-like structure with rails, providing a safe and engaging sleeping environment. The bed frame is intended for private, at-home use in indoor settings only. Its design promotes a Montessori approach, encouraging independence and freedom of movement within a child's space. The frame includes various wooden components such as posts, rails, and beams that form the bed's structure and the house-shaped roof.

Important Technical Specifications:

The bed frame is constructed from furniture-grade wood and sealed with a water-based sealant. The dimensions of the wooden components vary depending on the bed size (Crib, Twin, Full). For example:

  • Back Rail: 1 1/8 x 13 3/8 x 50 1/4 (Crib), 1 1/8 x 13 3/8 x 73 1/4 (Twin/Full)
  • End Rail (2X): 1 1/8 x 13 3/8 x 28 (Crib), 1 1/8 x 13 3/8 x 38 (Twin), 1 1/8 x 13 3/8 x 54 (Full)
  • Door Rail: 1 1/8 x 13 3/8 x 50 1/4 (Crib), 1 1/8 x 13 3/8 x 73 1/4 (Twin/Full)
  • Doorway Post: 1 1/8 x 2 x 44 1/2 (Crib), 1 1/8 x 2 x 46 (Twin/Full)
  • Post - (corner door): 1 1/8 x 2 x 48 1/4 (Crib), 1 1/8 x 2 x 50 (Twin/Full)
  • Post (corner) (2X): 1 1/8 x 2 x 48 1/4 (Crib), 1 1/8 x 2 x 50 (Twin/Full)
  • Post (opposite door): 1 1/8 x 2 x 48 1/4 (Crib), 1 1/8 x 2 x 50 (Twin/Full)
  • Top Beam - short (2X): 1 1/8 x 2 x 28 (Crib), 1 1/8 x 2 x 38 (Twin), 1 1/8 x 2 x 54 (Full)
  • Top Beam - door side: 1 1/8 x 2 x 50 1/4 (Crib), 1 1/8 x 2 x 73 1/4 (Twin/Full)
  • Top Beam - back side: 1 1/8 x 2 x 50 1/4 (Crib), 1 1/8 x 2 x 73 1/4 (Twin/Full)
  • Roof Brace (4X): 1 1/8 x 1 3/4 x 20 1/2 (Crib/Twin/Full)
  • Roof Beam: 1 1/8 x 2 1/4 x 54 1/4 (Crib), 1 1/8 x 2 1/2 x 73 1/4 (Twin/Full)

Hardware included for assembly consists of 20x 2 1/4" screws, 12x 3" screws. Necessary tools not included are an electric drill, a square, and a 24" level.

Usage Features:

The assembly process is designed to be straightforward, requiring two adults. It involves several steps:

  1. End Panel Assembly: Pins of the end rails are pressed into the posts (opposite door and corner posts). Short top beams are fitted into the posts, and screws are driven through pre-drilled holes to secure the top beam and end rail. This process is repeated for the second end panel. It is crucial to level the components during this step.
  2. Door Rail Assembly with Post: The doorway post is angled slightly to fit its pins into the bottom rail and snug onto the pin of the short rail. A screw is driven through the pre-drilled hole on the post to secure the door rail assembly.
  3. Assemble House: The back rail and door rail assembly are fitted into the end rails. Leveling is emphasized throughout this step.
  4. Secure Structure: Once the four sides are assembled, seven 3" screws are driven through the posts to secure the structure. A square should be used to confirm corners are at right angles.
  5. Fit Top Beams: The top beams (door side and back side) are fitted into the end panels and secured with four 3" screws through the posts. Again, leveling and checking right angles with a square are important.
  6. Assemble Roof: Roof braces are matched to the wide side of the roof beam (with the beveled edge at the top), and 2 1/4" screws are driven to secure them. This is repeated for all four braces.
  7. Place Roof Assembly: The completed roof assembly is placed onto the bed frame. At each corner, a 2 1/4" screw is driven through the pre-drilled hole into the corner post to secure the roof. Leveling is critical during roof assembly.

The bed frame is designed to be stable and safe when properly assembled. It is important to ensure the bed frame is on a flat and level surface and does not rock. Children should not be allowed to climb on the roof of the bed frame.

Maintenance Features:

Regular checks of the bed frame are recommended before use by children. This includes inspecting for damaged wood, missing or loose hardware, or any sharp edges. Any rough edges should be replaced, tightened, or smoothed. Moving parts, if any, should be lubricated.

The wooden parts are sealed with a water-based sealant. To slow down normal weathering (cracking, warping, and fading) and maintain warranty validity, it is required to apply a new layer of sealant to all wood surfaces every 1-2 years. For humid and hot areas, yearly application is recommended, while for dry areas, every two years is sufficient. Before applying sealant, lightly sand any rough spots on the wood pieces.

The product comes with a 1-year Replacement Warranty for manufacturer's defects (wood, hardware, accessories) and a 5-year Warranty on rot and decay for the wood. This warranty does not cover:

  • Labor for inspection or replacement of defective items.
  • Incidental or consequential damages.
  • Cosmetic defects that do not affect performance or integrity.
  • Vandalism, theft, improper use, or use beyond stated capacities.
  • Acts of nature (wind, earthquake, storms, hail, floods, fires, excessive water exposure).
  • Improper installation (e.g., on uneven ground).
  • Minor twisting, warping, cracking, or other natural wood properties that do not affect performance or integrity.

Modifications beyond painting could damage the structural integrity and void all warranties. Replacement parts are covered for the first year (including shipping and handling). After the first year, parts are charged with a decreasing discount (20% per year of ownership), and shipping/handling is covered by the customer. The warranty is void if the product is used in non-residential settings (playgrounds, parks, daycares, business settings) and is non-transferable.
