An IP address is a 32-bit address allocated to the devices which access the Internet.
It consists of two fields: net-id field and host-id field. There are five types of IP
address. See
Figure 18.

Class A, Class B and Class C are unicast addresses, while Class D addresses are
multicast addresses and Class E addresses are reserved for special applications. The
first three types are commonly used.
