Overview

The Abatement Technologies AQUATRAP LGR Dehumidifier, Model AT150RS, is a professional-grade low-grain refrigerant (LGR) dehumidifier designed for drying out wet materials in various environments. It is primarily used by professionals for water damage restoration, reducing water vapor from the air in enclosed structural environments such as buildings or parts of buildings. This includes drying carpets, carpet cushions, floors, walls, and building contents.

Function Description:

The dehumidifier operates by drawing in moist air, cooling it to condense the water vapor, and then expelling drier air. It is equipped with a sensor-controlled thermodynamic defrost system to prevent ice buildup on the coils, ensuring continuous operation even in cooler conditions. A centrifugal water pump is integrated to automatically remove condensed water through a drain hose, eliminating the need for manual emptying of a water reservoir. The unit features a High Airflow Filter (HAF) to capture airborne particles, contributing to cleaner air and protecting internal components.

Usage Features:

To effectively use the dehumidifier, it should be placed in an enclosed space to create a "drying chamber." This involves closing all doors, windows, or any openings to the outside to maximize the unit's water removal efficiency. Within the drying chamber, air circulation should be promoted by opening interior doors and using air movers. The dehumidifier should be positioned in the center of a room, away from anything that could obstruct airflow.

The unit is designed to operate within an ambient temperature range of 34°F to 100°F. Optimal drying temperatures are between 68°F and 84°F. In warmer conditions (e.g., summer), setting the air conditioning to 68°F with the blower on constant can help distribute dry air evenly. In cooler conditions (e.g., winter), setting the furnace to at least 65°F with the blower on constant is recommended. If the unit has been stored or transported in temperatures below 60°F, it should be allowed to acclimate to the warmer ambient temperature for about an hour before operation to minimize coil freezing. It is crucial not to operate the dehumidifier at temperatures above 100°F, as this can damage the machine.

The dehumidifier features a touch-pad control panel with an LCD display and an indicator light. The "ON/OFF" key powers the unit on or off. When turned on, it enters "STANDBY MODE," with the red indicator light and LCD illuminating. The LCD will flash "TIMER" digits, prompting the user to set a timer or start the machine directly. If no keys are pressed within 15 minutes in STANDBY MODE, the machine will automatically turn off.

The "TIMER" key allows users to set a desired dehumidification run time, ranging from 00:00 to 23:50, adjustable in 10-minute increments. Pressing and holding the "TIMER" key allows for continuous adjustment. The "START/STOP" key initiates or terminates the dehumidification process. Upon startup, there is a compressor delay, indicated by a numerical countdown (up to 90 seconds, or 30 seconds for the first startup) and a flashing "DELAY BAR." When dehumidification is active, a "DEHUMIDIFIER ON" icon is displayed. The cycle runs continuously if no timer is set, or stops when the set timer expires.

The "PURGE" key manually empties water from the pump reservoir. While the pump purges automatically when full, manual purging is recommended before transporting the unit. To do this, stop dehumidification, allow the unit to sit for about 10 minutes for water to drip from the coils, and then press "PURGE" to remove residual water. The display will show a "PURGE ON" icon during this process.

The "DISPLAY" key cycles through different clock displays: "TIMER" CLOCK (remaining run time for a set cycle), "TOTAL" CLOCK (total days the machine has been used), and "JOB" CLOCK (hours and minutes logged for the current or last job). In STANDBY MODE, "TIMER" CLOCK is the default. If the "DISPLAY" key is not pressed within 15 seconds, the display reverts to its default. Error messages (Er01, Er02, Er03) will cause the clock displays to disappear, but pressing "DISPLAY" once will bring them back after errors are cleared.

Error messages provide diagnostic information:

  • Er01 ("PUMP ON" flashing): Indicates a problem with the pump or a kinked drain tube. When this error occurs, the dehumidification cycle stops, and the machine reverts to STANDBY MODE but remains powered on.
  • Er02: Suggests an issue with the coil temperature sensor or its cable. Similar to Er01, the dehumidification cycle stops, and the machine enters STANDBY MODE.
  • Er03: Points to a problem with the ambient temperature sensor or its cable. Unlike the other errors, the dehumidification cycle continues when Er03 is displayed. For Er01 and Er02, users should check the drain tube for kinks or obstructions. For all error messages, contacting Abatement Technologies for service is advised.

Before plugging in the unit, ensure the electrical cord is unwrapped and connected to a standard grounded outlet with the correct voltage and amperage. If using a 230V to 115V converter (for connecting multiple units to a clothes dryer, stove, or oven outlet), always verify the voltage with a voltmeter. If the dehumidifier has been laid horizontally, it must be set upright for 30 minutes before starting operation.

Maintenance Features:

Regular maintenance is crucial for optimal performance and longevity. Always unplug the dehumidifier before performing any maintenance procedures.

Before Each Use:

  • Inspect the electrical cord: Check for any damage.
  • Inspect condensate pump drain tube: Ensure the drain tube is completely unwrapped and not kinked. Kinks can cause water backup, leakage, and potentially trigger an "ER01" error message on the control panel.

Periodic Inspections (as needed):

  • Inspect and clean the filter: Check for accumulated dust and dirt that could restrict airflow. Vacuum the debris from the filter. Do not wash the filter, as this can reduce the effectiveness of its electrostatic material. The filter should be replaced after being vacuumed clean 3 times or after use on a mold remediation job.
  • Check and clean coils: Unplug the unit, remove the housing to access the coils, pump, and drain hose. Vacuum both sides of the coils until clean.
  • Inspect and clean the pump system: Remove one screw to open the top cover, then open the second cover. Clean the float shaft to ensure the floating switch operates smoothly. Using bleach in the condensate pump once a year can help keep it clean.
  • Check drain hose: Inspect for obstructions and clear any debris.

The manufacturer provides a 12-month warranty covering defects in original materials or workmanship, excluding normal usage wear, mishandling, or abuse. Faulty parts will be replaced free of charge upon presentation of appropriate evidence, provided the unit is returned to the original supplier. Shipping expenses are not covered under the warranty.

Safety instructions emphasize not allowing children to play with or around the unit, keeping wiring and motors dry, and never operating the unit in standing water, rain, or snow to prevent electric shock. Users should not use residential three-way multiple plug adapters or operate the unit with a damaged power cord. The unit must always be operated with a grounded plug and supply. Extension cords must also be grounded and capable of delivering appropriate voltage. The unit should not be dropped or thrown and must always be operated on a stable, level surface. Air intakes should not be clogged or blocked. The filter must be kept clean. Users who are not qualified should not attempt to disassemble or repair the unit.
