Overview

The ABBREE AR-M6 is a CB radio designed for reliable communication, featuring both AM and FM modes. It offers a range of functionalities including VOX (Voice Operated eXchange), CTCSS/DCS (Continuous Tone-Coded Squelch System/Digital Coded Squelch) for selective calling, and SQ/ASQ (Squelch/Automatic Squelch Control) to manage background noise. The radio supports full channel scanning and includes dedicated emergency channels (CH9/19) for quick access in critical situations.

Function Description:

  • AM and FM Mode: The radio supports both Amplitude Modulation (AM) and Frequency Modulation (FM) for versatile communication. Users can switch between these modes using the MODE key.
  • VOX: This feature allows for hands-free operation by transmitting when the user speaks into the microphone. The VOX function can be enabled/disabled and its sensitivity (LE) and delay time (TI) can be adjusted to optimize transmission quality and prevent abrupt cut-offs.
  • CTCSS/DCS: These systems provide selective calling, allowing users to hear only transmissions with a matching tone or code. The CTCSS/DCS function can be enabled/disabled and configured, with 38 CTCSS tones (001-038) and 104 DCS codes (001-104) available. This feature is only active in FM mode.
  • SQ/ASQ Control:
    • ASQ (Automatic Squelch Control): By turning the SQ knob anti-clockwise to the ASQ position, the radio automatically adjusts squelch levels, providing a balance between sensitivity and listening comfort without manual intervention. The LCD displays "AC" when active.
    • SQ (Manual Squelch): Users can manually adjust the squelch by turning the SQ knob clockwise until background noises disappear. This allows for precise control over which signals are received, with higher settings filtering out weaker signals.
  • Full Channel Scan: The radio can scan through all available channels. This function is activated by a long press of the CH or ACH keys, and the scan direction can be changed during scanning.
  • EMG Channel (CH9/19): Dedicated keys provide quick access to emergency channels 9 and 19. Repeated presses toggle between these channels and return to the last normal channel.
  • Keypad Lock: The MODE key can be used to lock the keypad, preventing accidental changes to settings. In lock mode, all keys except the PTT (Push-to-Talk) switch are disabled.
  • Volume Control: The VOL knob controls the audio output volume.

Usage Features:

  • Power On/Off: The radio is powered on by turning the VOL knob clockwise and off by turning it anti-clockwise until a "Ka Ta" sound is heard.
  • Channel Selection: Channels can be increased or decreased using the CH or ACH keys. Holding these keys allows for fast channel changes.
  • Scan Function: A very long press of the CH or ACH key initiates the scan function, indicated by "SC" on the LCD. Scan direction can be changed with short presses of the CH or ACH keys, and scanning can be exited by pressing EMG or PTT.
  • External Speaker: The radio supports an 8Ω external speaker with a 3.5mm mono connector.
  • Microphone Jack: A dedicated jack is provided for connecting the microphone.
  • Power Connection: The radio requires a 12V DC power supply.
  • PTT Switch: The Push-to-Talk switch is used to initiate transmission.

Maintenance Features:

  • Antenna Installation: It is crucial to install the antenna and set the SWR (Standing Wave Ratio) before transmitting to prevent damage to the power amplifier. Failure to do so voids the warranty.
  • Factory Default Reset: The radio can be reset to factory default settings by holding the EMG key while powering on until "rt" is displayed on the LCD. This operation will restore all channel and function settings to their original state.
  • Power Cable Check: Users are advised to check the radio version (12V) before connecting the power cable to ensure it is supplied with a continuous current of 12 volts.

FCC Compliance and Safety:

The device complies with FCC rules, ensuring it does not cause harmful interference and accepts any received interference. Users are advised to maintain a minimum separation distance of 35.8cm for safe RF exposure. Modification of this device to receive cellular radiotelephone service signals is prohibited under FCC rules and federal law.
