Overview

This document provides an installation and operation guide for the AboLife M15 Keypad Electronic Lock. It covers the components, installation steps, programming instructions, and troubleshooting tips.

The AboLife M15 is a keypad electronic lock designed for residential use, offering keyless entry and enhanced security features. Its primary function is to secure a door using a programmable keypad, allowing users to unlock it with a numerical code rather than a traditional key. The lock also retains the option for manual key override, providing a backup entry method.

Function Description:

The AboLife M15 Keypad Electronic Lock operates by allowing users to program and store multiple user codes for keyless access. It features a backlit keypad for visibility in low-light conditions. The core functionality revolves around its electronic locking mechanism, which is controlled by the keypad and internal programming. When a correct user code is entered, the latch bolt retracts, allowing the door to be opened. The lock also includes an auto-lock function, which automatically re-secures the door after a set period, enhancing security by preventing accidental unlatching. A protection mode is integrated to deter unauthorized access attempts; if an incorrect code is entered multiple times, the keypad will temporarily lock out, preventing further attempts. For maintenance and setup, a SET button is provided on the interior assembly, allowing access to programming modes for changing codes, adding/deleting users, and adjusting settings. The lock is powered by AA batteries, and it includes alerts for low battery status to ensure continuous operation. In case of complete battery depletion, an external Micro-USB power supply can be used for temporary power to unlock the door, or the physical key can be used.

Usage Features:

  • Keyless Entry: The primary feature is keyless entry via a programmable keypad, eliminating the need for physical keys for daily use.
  • Programmable User Codes: Users can create and manage multiple 6-10 digit user codes, with up to 50 unique user IDs. This is ideal for granting temporary access to guests or service personnel without sharing a master key.
  • Programming Code: A distinct programming code (default: 123456) is used to access and modify the lock's settings, ensuring that only authorized individuals can change user codes or other parameters.
  • Auto-Lock Function: The lock can be configured to automatically re-lock the door after a user-defined period (5-30 seconds, default 10 seconds). This feature provides peace of mind, ensuring the door is always secured even if forgotten. This function can also be canceled if not desired.
  • Sound On/Off: The lock offers the option to enable or disable keypad sounds, allowing for silent operation if preferred.
  • Protection Mode: After 5 incorrect code entries, the keypad will lock out for 90 seconds, indicated by 3 beeps and 3 red lights. This security feature prevents brute-force attempts to guess codes. The lockout can be exited by waiting 90 seconds or by temporarily removing and reinserting the battery.
  • Manual Key Override: A traditional key cylinder is included, providing a mechanical backup for unlocking the door in case of electronic failure or dead batteries.
  • Battery Status Alerts: The lock provides visual (red light) and audible (beeps) alerts for low battery and super low battery conditions, prompting users to replace batteries before they completely drain.
  • Temporary Power Supply: In the event of fully depleted batteries, a Micro-USB port allows for a temporary power supply to unlock the door electronically, providing an alternative to the physical key.
  • Factory Reset: A factory reset option is available to delete all programmed codes and restore the lock to its default settings. This is useful for resetting the lock to a clean state or when transferring ownership. The process involves holding the SET button for more than 5 seconds until specific light and sound indicators confirm the reset.

Maintenance Features:

  • Battery Replacement: The lock is powered by 4 AA batteries. The manual emphasizes using non-rechargeable or non-alkaline batteries. Regular replacement is crucial, especially when low battery alerts are triggered. The battery cover is easily accessible for this purpose.
  • Door Handing Process: After installation and battery insertion, a door handing process must be performed. This calibrates the lock to the specific orientation of the door (left-hand or right-hand), ensuring the latch bolt extends and retracts smoothly. This is a critical step for proper functionality.
  • Troubleshooting Guide: The manual includes a comprehensive "System Alerts" section that lists common issues, their reasons, and corresponding solutions. This helps users diagnose and resolve problems such as door jamming, unsuccessful programming, incorrect user codes, low battery, poor quality battery, battery run-out, and bad cable connections.
  • Latch and Strike Plate Adjustment: The installation guide details how to adjust the latch bolt length (2-3/8" or 2-3/4") and ensure the strike plate is correctly installed and aligned with the door frame. Proper alignment is essential for smooth operation and to prevent the door from jamming.
  • Cable Connection Check: The installation instructions highlight the importance of ensuring a tight cable connection between the exterior and interior assemblies. A loose connection can lead to the lock not responding.
  • Mounting Plate Adjustment: If the keypad and mounting plate show deflection, the manual advises loosening and re-adjusting the mounting plate screws to ensure a flush and secure fit, which can impact the smooth operation of the latch.
  • Customer Support: AboLife offers video call guide service for installation and setup assistance, providing direct support to users who may encounter difficulties. This proactive support helps ensure correct installation and optimal performance of the lock.
