OPERATION
Last scale used is memorized when power is shut down
and automatically selected next time unit is powered up.
Hold/freeze: Press once. In HOLD mode the Hold LED
will flash continuously. Press
again to release hold.
(If powered down while on Hold, the Skipper 5 will retain
information until powered up and hold is pressed again to
release)

Overview

The Tramex Skipper 5 Moisture Meter (model SMM5) is a non-destructive, dual-depth moisture meter designed for marine surveying. It is manufactured by Tramex and distributed by ABQ Industrial LP USA.

Function Description

The Skipper 5 is used to measure moisture content in various materials, particularly in marine environments. It features two scales: an upper scale (5-30) for indicating moisture content (MC%) in wood products, and a lower comparative scale (0-100) for recording and comparing moisture conditions in materials other than wood. The device provides instant readings displayed on an analog dial. It also has Bluetooth connectivity, allowing readings to be sent to the Tramex App on a mobile device.

Usage Features

  • Operation:
    • Power On/Off: Press the power button to switch the unit ON/OFF.
    • Mode/Scale Selection: Press the mode button to select the desired mode or scale. The last scale used is memorized and automatically selected when the unit is powered up again.
    • Measurement: Press the meter fully against the surface of the material to take a reading. Readings are instant and displayed on the analog dial.
    • App Integration: When using with the Tramex App, place and press the meter on the surface, record the reading, lift, and repeat.
  • Hold/Freeze Function:
    • Press the HOLD button once to activate. In HOLD mode, the Hold LED will flash continuously.
    • Press the HOLD button again to release the hold.
    • If the device is powered down while in Hold mode, it will retain the information until powered up and the HOLD button is pressed again to release.
  • Audio Signal: The audio signal can be turned ON or OFF by pressing the HOLD/AUDIO button twice in quick succession.
  • Bluetooth Control: Press the Bluetooth button to switch Bluetooth ON/OFF. Readings will then be sent to the Tramex App on your mobile device.
