Overview

The ACDC 12V Air Conditioner is a no-idle air conditioning solution designed for heavy-haul trucks and RVs, providing cooling comfort while saving fuel and reducing engine wear.

Function Description:

This user manual provides comprehensive information for the effective use of the ACDC 12V air conditioner. It is designed to operate on a 12V DC battery system, offering an efficient and environmentally friendly alternative to engine idling for cooling. The system consists of an outdoor unit and an indoor unit, connected by refrigerant hoses and an electrical cable. The remote controller allows users to power the system on/off, change air conditioning modes (AUTO, COOL, DRY, FAN), and adjust the target temperature. The AUTO mode automatically controls the cooling mode and fan speed based on the set temperature.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Cooling Capacity: 2000W (6000BTU)
  • Power Consumption: Typical range of 300W-795W
  • Rated Current: 25A-66A
  • Battery Compatibility: Requires a 12V DC battery system. Operates with battery voltage between 10.5V and 16.5V.
  • Low Voltage Disconnect Protection: Automatically disconnects power if battery voltage drops below 10.0V to protect the battery.
  • Fuse Protection: Equipped with an in-line fuse for protection. A 100A or higher fuse is recommended.
  • Moisture Ingress Protection: IP65 rated, ensuring protection against dust and water ingress when the fuse cover is correctly positioned and sealed with an o-ring.
  • Refrigerant: Pre-filled with R-134a.
  • Hose Length: The distance between the outdoor and indoor units should be within 3m to accommodate the refrigerant hoses and electrical cable.
  • Opening Hole Diameter: A 65mm round hole is recommended for routing hoses and electrical wire.
  • Outdoor Unit Dimensions (approximate): 860mm (length) x 430mm (width) x 227mm (height).
  • Indoor Unit Dimensions (approximate): 638mm (length) x 335mm (width) x 187mm (height).

Usage Features:

  • Installation Flexibility: The outdoor unit can be installed in any direction, either wall-mounted or horizontally on the rooftop, in a suitable position outside the vehicle. The indoor unit is mounted inside the cab on the rear or side wall, requiring a level surface for proper water drainage.
  • Vibration Resistance: Utilizes flexible rubber hoses to resist vibrations, enhancing durability in vehicle applications.
  • Fuel Savings: Eliminates the need for engine idling for cooling, leading to significant fuel savings.
  • Reduced Engine Wear: By reducing engine idling, the system contributes to less engine wear and extends maintenance intervals.
  • Zero CO2 Emission: Operates without producing CO2 emissions, contributing to a cleaner environment.
  • Quiet Operation: As a ductless split-type air conditioner, it ensures quiet operation within the cab.
  • Remote Control: A remote controller allows for easy operation, including power on/off, mode selection (AUTO, COOL, DRY, FAN), and temperature adjustment.
  • Battery Considerations: Users are advised to check DC voltage polarity before connecting the battery and to provide an additional fuse for battery protection as recommended by the battery manufacturer.
  • System Upgrade Recommendations:
    • Battery System: To extend run-time, an auxiliary power unit is recommended. An isolator relay can ensure the main battery remains healthy, and a cutoff switch is suggested for cold weather periods.
    • Solar Panels and Inverter: Integrating solar panels can provide trickle charging, especially beneficial for air conditioning use. Adding an inverter allows for the use of off-grid AC appliances.
    • Shore Power: A shore power connection enables charging batteries and running the ACDC system at full speed using a 120V power source.

Maintenance Features:

  • Regular Maintenance: Every six months, the following checks should be performed:
    • Inspect the in-line fuse.
    • Check the fan of the outdoor unit.
    • Check the air filter of the indoor unit.
    • Check the crimp connection of the battery.
  • Troubleshooting:
    • Power-up issues are often related to battery condition. Users should check if the in-line fuse needs replacement.
    • Verify if the fan of the outdoor unit is working.
    • If the fan makes noise, the air filter may need cleaning.
    • Always check the battery status.
  • Customer Support: For technical support and troubleshooting, users can contact customer support via email or phone. The latest version of the manual and additional technical details are available on www.fleetwelcome.com.
