QuARTz by ACO
ShowerDrain Lightline
Installation & Operation
Product Description
ACO Lightline contains two low-voltage battery-operated LED units which fit directly into the
QuARTz by ACO ShowerDrain channel grating. These units will come on automatically as
soon as they come in contact with water and will come off approximately two minutes after
the shower is turned off.
Charging the LED Unit
The LED unit must be fully charged before installing for the first time. Make sure the LED
unit is clean and dry, then insert it into the charger as shown in the picture below. Note the
LED unit profile orientation before fitting it into the charger.
Connect the main adaptor to the charger and turn the power on. Control indicators will begin
to blink. The charging process can take up to 18 hours to complete.
Note
The Indicators will blink quickly if the energy
level in the LED unit is low. If the indicators
continue to blink quickly for more than one
hour, then the LED unit is defective and
should be replaced.
Under normal conditions of use, a fully char-
ged module should last approximately three
months before needing a replacement.
For optimum performance, always keep
the LED unit fully charged to preserve their
lifespan.

Installing the LED Unit
1. Remove the grating form the shower
channel.
2. Remove the grating plastic locks from
the sides of the grating and insert the LED
unit making sure that the LEDs are facing
toward the center of the grating while the
angled top faces upward allowing water to
drain freely.

Overview

The ACO Lightline is an innovative LED lighting system designed for integration with QuARTz by ACO ShowerDrain channels, enhancing the aesthetic and functional appeal of shower areas. This system comprises two low-voltage, battery-operated LED units that automatically activate upon contact with water and deactivate approximately two minutes after the shower is turned off. This intelligent activation mechanism ensures that the lights are only on when needed, contributing to energy efficiency and extending battery life.

Function Description:

The primary function of the ACO Lightline is to provide ambient lighting within a shower drain channel. The LED units are self-contained and designed to fit seamlessly into the grating of QuARTz by ACO ShowerDrain channels. Their automatic activation and deactivation based on water contact offer a hands-free and intuitive user experience. This feature not only adds a decorative element to the shower but also provides a subtle light source, which can be particularly useful in dimly lit bathrooms or for creating a spa-like ambiance. The system is entirely battery-powered, eliminating the need for complex wiring within the shower area, thus simplifying installation and ensuring safety in a wet environment.

Important Technical Specifications:

The ACO Lightline system includes several key technical specifications that define its performance and compatibility:

  • LED Units: The system offers four distinct LED unit options: red, green, blue, and rainbow. This variety allows users to choose the lighting color that best suits their aesthetic preferences or bathroom decor.
  • Battery: Each LED unit is powered by a 3.6V battery with a capacity of 2700mAh. This capacity is designed to provide a long operational life between charges. Under normal conditions of use, a fully charged module is expected to last approximately three months before requiring a replacement or recharge.
  • Charger: The system includes a dedicated charger with the following specifications:
    • Input: 110-249V AC, 50/60Hz, 180mA. This wide input voltage range makes the charger compatible with various electrical systems globally.
    • Output: 9V DC, 600mA. The output specifications ensure efficient and safe charging of the LED units.

Usage Features:

The ACO Lightline is designed for ease of use, from initial setup to daily operation:

  • Installation:
    1. Grating Removal: The first step involves removing the grating from the shower channel to access the installation area.
    2. LED Unit Insertion: The LED unit is then inserted into the grating. It is crucial to ensure that the LEDs face toward the center of the grating and the angled top faces upward. This orientation allows water to drain freely and optimizes light dispersion.
    3. Securing with Plastic Locks: Plastic locks, provided with the system, are used to secure the LED unit firmly within the grating.
    4. Grating Replacement: Finally, the grating, now equipped with the LED unit, is replaced into the drain channel.
  • Automatic Operation: The LED units are equipped with sensors that detect the presence of water. They automatically turn on when water is present (e.g., during a shower) and turn off approximately two minutes after the water flow ceases. This automated functionality eliminates the need for manual switches, providing a seamless user experience.
  • Charging Process: Before initial installation, the LED units must be fully charged. The charging process involves:
    1. Cleaning and Drying: Ensuring the LED unit is clean and dry before inserting it into the charger.
    2. Orientation: Correctly orienting the LED unit profile before fitting it into the charger.
    3. Power Connection: Connecting the main adapter to the charger and turning on the power. Control indicators on the charger will begin to blink, signaling that charging is in progress.
    4. Charging Duration: The charging process can take up to 18 hours to complete for a full charge.
  • Low Battery Indication: The control indicators on the charger will blink quickly if the energy level in the LED unit is low. If these indicators continue to blink quickly for more than one hour during charging, it suggests that the LED unit may be defective and should be replaced.

Maintenance Features:

Proper maintenance is crucial for ensuring the longevity and optimal performance of the ACO Lightline system:

  • Pre-Charging Cleaning: Before charging the LED units, it is essential to thoroughly clean and fully dry their entire surface. This prevents debris or moisture from interfering with the charging contacts and ensures efficient power transfer.
  • Exclusive Charger Use: The supplied charger is specifically designed for use ONLY with the ACO Lightline LED units. Using this charger with any other rechargeable batteries can result in severe damage to the unit, posing a safety risk and potentially voiding warranties.
  • Battery Lifespan Preservation: To achieve optimum performance and preserve the lifespan of the LED units, it is recommended to keep them fully charged. Regular charging, even if the battery is not completely depleted, can help maintain battery health.
  • Caution with Electrical Devices Near Water: As with all electrical devices, extreme caution must be exercised when handling the ACO Lightline components, especially the charger, around water. This is a critical safety measure to prevent electrical hazards.
  • Module Replacement: Under normal conditions, a fully charged module should last approximately three months. When the battery life diminishes significantly, or if the unit is deemed defective (e.g., continuous quick blinking during charging), the module should be replaced.

In summary, the ACO Lightline is a sophisticated yet user-friendly LED lighting solution for shower drains, offering aesthetic enhancement, practical illumination, and intelligent automation. Its robust design, clear technical specifications, and straightforward maintenance guidelines ensure a reliable and enjoyable experience for users.
