Overview

This document provides a technical service manual for ACOND split-type air conditioners, specifically models AS-09UR4SYDDA and AS-12UR4SYDDA. It covers operation, installation, refrigerant flow, electrical data, control modes, troubleshooting, and component checking.

Function Description

The ACOND AS-09UR4SYDDA and AS-12UR4SYDDA are split-type air conditioners designed for both cooling and heating. They operate by circulating refrigerant between an indoor unit (evaporator) and an outdoor unit (condenser and compressor). The system includes various sensors to monitor temperatures and ensure efficient and safe operation, such as indoor and outdoor air intake temperature sensors, coil temperature sensors, and compressor discharge/shell temperature sensors. The units feature a control board that manages the compressor, fan motors (indoor and outdoor), and electronic expansion valve based on user settings and sensor feedback.

    • Heat Mode: Setting temperature is decreased by 1°C per hour during the successive 3 hours, but the max setting temperature decrease is 3°C.
    • LOW setting: Indoor fan runs in LOW setting, and air flow direction is adjusted by user. Indicators flash 10 times per 1 Hz frequency, then all indicators turn OFF except Sleep light after 5 min elapse. Those indicators will be recovery when temperature or Time setting is adjusted, after the setting, the indicators will be lit in 10 sec, then turn OFF.
  • Automatic Run (SMART) Mode:
    • H/C appliance:
      • Cooling: If setting temperature is 26°C, appliance runs in Cool if room temperature exceeds 26°C.
      • Dry Mode: If room temperature exceeds 23°C but below 26°C, it runs in Dry mode (3 min LOW air volume running).
      • Cooling: If room temperature exceeds 21°C but below 23°C, it operates in Fan only, air volume is set to LOW, and fan speed can be adjusted.
      • Heating: If room temperature is not more than 21°C, it operates in Heat mode, and temperature is set to 22°C.
    • Cool only appliance:
      • Cooling: If setting temperature is 26°C, it runs in Cool mode, and temperature is set to 26°C.

      • LOW setting: If room temperature is not more than 23°C, it operates in Fan only, air volume is set to LOW, and fan speed can be adjusted.
    • Smart Operation: Setting temperature can be adjusted 2°C or 7°C (based on remote mode). Min accuracy is 1°C up and down based on automatic temperature setting, also the presetting temperature of PCB circuit.
    • Compressor Operation: In case of specific operation selected, it could be re-select the other modes after the compressor ceased for 5 min or the setting temperature changed.
  • Cooling-run Mode:
    • Outdoor Fan: Single speed motor can be changed according to outdoor ambient temperatures.
    • Indoor Fan Operation:
      • When the appliance is set to Automatic condition in Cool mode for the first time, the fan speed will run at Low setting. After that, temperature and fan speed is shown as following:
  • High: Setting temp. plus 4°C
  • Median: Setting temp. plus 2°C
  • Low
    • When the difference between the setting temperature and the room temperature equals 2°C or 4°C, the indoor fan speed will keep in current speed.
* **Air Flow Direction Control:** Horizontal louver is controlled by a step motor, press SWING button to swing or stop. During normal operation, current position is stored. When appliance turns off, louver swings automatically to default position, then positions at default position plus 5°.
* **4-way valve:** Electrified in heating. Switchover: When initially powered on for heating, the 4-way valve is activated. In change from cooling to heating, it needs an interval of 50 seconds for the 4-way valve to change over from being interrupted to being activated.
  • Heating-run Mode:
    • Temperature Compensation: 5°C in heating mode. If set to 25°C, compressor turns off when room temperature reaches 31°C. This compensation is only available when using the indoor unit's room temperature sensor.
    • Indoor Fan Motor Operation (Anti-cold air system): Prevents cold air during heating.
      • The setting air flow: 35°C
      • The setting air flow: 30°C (Extra-low)
      • Low
      • 25°C (Stop)
      • Stop
      • When the appliance turns to anti-cold air system in Extra-LOW (Tapped motor set in LOW), the louver swings to Cool air protection position. It recovers to original position after air volume changes to LOW. When room temperature reaches setting temperature, compressor turns off, air flow changes to LOW, louver swings to Cool air protective position to prevent air drop into human body directly. When indoor pipe coil temperature drops continuously, it turns to Cooling air protective system in Extra-LOW or stops fan motor.
      • Indoor fan motor is controlled only by indoor pipe coil temperature, regardless of compressor ON/OFF, even when appliance starts in Heat mode.
      • Indoor fan motor operates according to different settings (High, Median, Low, and Automatic) by remote control, but anti-cold air system is prior.
      • When appliance runs in Heat mode with Automatic setting at first time, fan speed is in LOW setting, and operation diagram is shown as following:
  • Low: Setting temperature -2°C
  • MEDIAN
  • High: Setting temperature -4°C
    • When difference between setting temperature and room temperature equals 2°C or 4°C, indoor fan speed keeps current speed.
* **Air Flow Direction Control:** Horizontal louver is controlled by a step motor, press SWING button to swing or stop. During normal operation, current position is stored. When appliance turns off, louver swings automatically to default position, then positions at default position plus 5°.
* **Outdoor Fan:** Outdoor fan speeds except single speed motor can be changed according to outdoor ambient temperatures.
* **4-way valve:** Electrified in heating. Switchover: When initially powered on for heating, the 4-way valve is activated. In change from cooling to heating, it needs an interval of 50 seconds for the 4-way valve to change over from being interrupted to being activated.
  • Super Function (Option): In cooling mode, pressing the SUPER button by remote control makes the unit operate for 15 minutes with the following setting: set temperature is 18°C.
  • Dehumidifying Mode:
    • Dehumidifying area I: Operation at frequency in the range (30-60Hz) according to Δt (Tindoor ambient - Tset).
      • Δt(°C) | f(Hz)
      • 0 | 30
      • 0.5 | 30
      • 1 | 40
      • 1.5 | 50
      • ≥2 | 60
    • Dehumidifying area II: Compressor stops for 5 minutes and operators for 5 minutes at the lowest frequency.
    • Dehumidifying area III: Compressor stops.
  • Fan Only Mode Operation: Compressor and outdoor fan stop, indoor fan operates under pre-setting of air volume, louver swings, and indoor fan speed is the same as Heating Mode.

Refrigerant Flow Diagram:

  • Evacuation Procedures:
    1. Connect the refrigerant pipes (both liquid and gas pipes) between indoor and outdoor units.
    2. Remove the service port cap of the stop valve on the outdoor unit gas pipe (valve will not work if not fresh out of factory).
    3. Connect the gauge manifold valve and vacuum pump to the service port of the outdoor unit gas pipe.
    4. Run the vacuum pump for more than 15 minutes and confirm pressure gauge indicates -0.1 MPa (-76 cmHg).
    5. Check vacuum with gauge manifold valve, then close the gauge manifold valve, and stop vacuum pump.
    6. Leave for one or two minutes. Make sure the pointer of the gauge manifold valve remains in the same position.
    7. Remove the gauge manifold valve quickly from the service port of the stop valve.
    8. After refrigerant pipes are connected and evacuated, fully open all stop valves on gas and liquid pipe sides. Operating without fully opening lowers performance and causes trouble.
    9. Tighten the cap to the service port to obtain the initial status.
    10. Retighten the cap.
    11. Leak test.
