Why is my Acoustech H-100II making a humming or buzzing noise?

  A humming or buzzing noise from your Acoustech Subwoofer can stem from several causes. It could be due to a ground loop, often originating from cable TV or satellite cabling. Try disconnecting the coaxial cable from your TV or cable box; if the hum disappears, the cable is the culprit. In this case, contact your cable company or acquire a 75 ohm ground loop isolator. Other potential causes include a faulty amplifier (disconnect all interconnects; if it still hums, contact technical support), problematic speaker wires or interconnects (try another cable, move the signal cable away from AC cables), or a light dimmer on the same AC circuit (use an AC line filter or a different circuit).

  If your Acoustech Subwoofer has no output and the LED is not lighting up, first ensure the switch on the back is in the “ON” position. Then, verify you're using the correct power cord, that it's securely plugged in at both ends, and that the AC outlet is working. Try a different power cord. If the LED remains off, check the fuse. If problems persist, your amplifier may require service.

  If your Acoustech Subwoofer enters standby mode during playback, it could be due to a weak source signal. Try increasing the source signal. If using a Dolby Digital receiver, raise the SUBWOOFER level in the SPEAKER SET-UP menu, then lower the volume knob on the subwoofer to compensate. Alternatively, set the subwoofer's ON/AUTO/OFF switch to the ON position. Also, verify that the crossover frequency isn't set too low, either on the receiver or the subwoofer itself.

Why Acoustech Subwoofer has no output but the LED lights up red with Power Switch set to AUTO?

  If your Acoustech Subwoofer's LED is red with the power switch on AUTO but there's no output, ensure your digital receiver is set to “SUB ON”. Recheck all connections between the receiver and the subwoofer. If the issue persists, set the subwoofer level to a minimum, use a different RCA cable to connect the sub to a DVD player's analog output or an MP3 player, play music, and gradually increase the volume on the sub. If it plays, the problem lies in the subwoofer cable, receiver settings, or incorrect receiver jack connection. If there's still no sound, contact BIC Tech Support.

  If your Acoustech Subwoofer has no output but the LED is green, with the power switch set to AUTO, the connection between the woofer and amplifier might be loose. Unplug the subwoofer, unscrew the amp, and ensure both (+) and (-) leads are securely connected to the woofer. If the connection is secure, the woofer or amplifier may be faulty. To test, remove the woofer and touch its (+) and (-) terminals to a 9-volt battery. A popping noise indicates the woofer is good and the amp needs repair. Alternatively, connect the woofer to a main channel of your receiver; if it plays, the amp needs repair; if not, the woofer is bad.

  If you're experiencing little to no sound from one main speaker of your Acoustech Subwoofer, and you're using speaker level connections, you may have mixed up the polarity of the wires, which can short one channel of the main amplifier. Correct the polarity by matching the (+) and (-) from the receiver/amplifier to the (+) and (-) of the subwoofer’s speaker level input.
