Overview

The device described in this manual is a Backrest designed to provide lower back support while seated on a rollator. It is a carbon ultralight accessory.

Function Description

The backrest is designed to be easily attached to the handle bar of a rollator, providing optimal support for the lower back when the user is seated. It is intended to be attached in the opposite direction from which the user walks, allowing them to sit on the widest part of the rollator's seat and receive support on the narrower part. The curved shape of the backrest is specifically engineered to ensure this optimal support.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Material: PE (Polyethylene)
  • Height: 150 mm (from top to bottom)
  • Length:
    • Regular Track: 850 mm
    • Wide Track: 890 mm
  • Depth: 3 mm
  • Weight: 200g

Usage Features

Attachment: The backrest is attached to the rollator's handle bar using mounting clips. The attachment process involves two main steps for each side (left and right):

  1. Initial Clip Attachment: Grab the mounting clip on the backrest and push it towards the handle bar until it attaches around the bar. At this stage, the clips may still slide up and down. For easier attachment, it's recommended to push the clip onto the handle bar from the side facing backwards and inwards towards the seat.
  2. Securing the Clip:
    • Left Side: Find the preferred height and turn the clip counter-clockwise until a 'click' is heard. A small peak on the inside of the clips must fit into one of the holes on the handle bar to secure it.
    • Right Side: Repeat the initial attachment step. Then, push the mounting clip clockwise until a 'click' is heard, and the clip is fastened.

Detachment: To detach the backrest, grab the mounting clip and turn it clockwise on the left side until it releases from the handle bar. For the right side, turn the mounting clip counter-clockwise until it releases.

Height Adjustment: The backrest can be adjusted to the user's preferred height in two ways:

  1. Attaching it directly into the chosen hole on the handle bar.
  2. Attaching the backrest in the top hole and then adjusting the height by moving the handle bars up or down. Users are encouraged to experiment with slight height adjustments to find what works best for them. If attaching the clips in a preferred lower hole is difficult, attaching it to the top hole first and then adjusting the handle height might simplify the process. When attached to the top hole, the clip should be moved all the way to the top of the handle bar before being turned and fastened.

Important Usage Notes:

  • The backrest can be attached in any optional hole on the handle bar, except the lowest one.
  • Ensure the backrest is correctly attached before use. The clips must be completely secured on both the left and right handle bars, without any ability to move side-to-side or up and down.
  • The backrest must face the correct direction (opposite to the direction of walking).
  • At least one visible hole on the handle bar is required for attachment.

Video Version: A video demonstration of how to attach the backrest is available. Users can access it by scanning a QR code or visiting bit.ly/backrestmanual.

Maintenance Features

The backrest is easy to maintain:

  • It can be cleaned with a wet cloth.
  • If necessary, washing-up liquid can also be used for cleaning.

Design and Origin

The backrest is designed in Denmark and handcrafted in China by byACRE ApS.
