The Acuva ArrowMAX™ HOME is a whole-house UV-LED water treatment system designed to provide safe and purified water throughout a residence. This point-of-entry system is tested and certified by NSF International for NSF/ANSI/CAN 372 and meets the equivalent criteria of NSF/ANSI 55 CLASS "B" (Microbial Disinfection) by a third-party lab, ensuring its effectiveness in microbial disinfection.
Function Description:
The ArrowMAX™ HOME system utilizes UV-LED technology to treat incoming water, effectively disinfecting it before it reaches any branched lines within the home. The system is designed for indoor use and should be installed on the cold water line. A pre-installation water quality test is required to determine contaminants, and a pre-filtration system must be selected accordingly to maintain optimal water quality parameters, specifically a UV Transmittance (UVT) greater than 95%/cm. The device is intended for intermittent normal water use and should not be installed where water flows continuously for prolonged periods.
Important Technical Specifications:
- Flow Rate: The system operates with a minimum flow rate of 0.5 GPM, a typical flow rate of 8.5 GPM, and a maximum flow rate of 20 GPM.
- Dose Delivery: It delivers a UV dose greater than 16 mJ/cm².
- Fitting: The system uses a ¾" NPT Male fitting.
- Voltage: It supports a voltage range of 100V to 240V, with a typical operating voltage of 110V. The absolute maximum input voltage is 240V, and reverse input voltage should not exceed 0.3V.
- Power: The power consumption ranges from 75W to 100W, with a typical power usage of 95W.
- Material: The reactor is constructed from 304L Stainless Steel.
- Working Pressure: The working pressure ranges from 40 PSI to 100 PSI, with a typical pressure of 60 PSI.
- Water Temperature: The system can treat water temperatures above freezing, with a typical operating temperature of 20°C and an absolute maximum of 40°C.
- Weight: The unit weighs 6.0 Kg.
- Electrostatic Discharge: It can withstand an electrostatic discharge of up to 2.0 KV (HBM).
- Installation Area: An approximate area of 1m x 1m is required for installation.
- Relative Humidity (RH): The operating environment should have an RH of less than 95%.
Usage Features:
- Control Display: The system includes an LCD visual screen that serves as a controller. This display monitors the device's health status, LED lifetime, filter lifetime, and total volume of treated water, providing constant communication to the user.
- Mobile Application: The ArrowMAX™ HOME comes with a mobile phone application that allows remote monitoring of the device status and provides push notifications for any status changes. Users can create an account, add their device, and view data and statistics such as device health, power monitoring, water usage monitoring, LED status, and filter status.
- System Configuration: The UV reactor can be mounted either horizontally or vertically at the point of entry. A bypass assembly is recommended for "off-line" maintenance, though supplementary disinfection for the distribution system would be required if water is used during bypass.
- Safety Features: The device is designed with safety in mind, including warnings against freezing water, submersion, splashing, and operation without water. It also includes precautions for handling electrostatic-sensitive devices and warnings about UV-C radiation exposure if the housing is damaged or the emitter is removed. The system must be grounded to prevent electric shock.
Maintenance Features:
- Monthly Checks: Users are advised to check monthly for any leaking connectors.
- Filter Replacement: In-line filters should be replaced after winterization or as per the instructions on the filter label. The filtration system is crucial for maintaining UV transmittance above 95%/cm.
- LED Replacement: The reactor LEDs need to be replaced at the end of their lifetime. This replacement must be carried out by a licensed plumber or certified technician, as user replacement is not permitted. The UV-LEDs have a lifetime of approximately 1,000 hours of on-demand operation.
- No Scaling Maintenance: Unlike traditional UV lamp systems, the small quartz windows inside the ArrowMAX™ HOME unit do not reach high temperatures, which prevents mineral build-up (scaling). This eliminates the need for cleaning maintenance related to scaling.
- System Flushing: After a new installation, UV-LED head replacement, or power loss, the system requires a full flush. This involves removing the pre-filter cartridge, filling it with household bleach, running water until bleach is smelled throughout the house, waiting 30 minutes, and then reinserting the filter cartridge and flushing until no chlorine is detected.
- Winterizing: For winterization, the pre-filter should be removed and drained, then stored in a cool place. The system can be cleared of water by applying compressed air to the inlet or by completely removing and storing the system in a temperature-controlled environment (>4°C). Improper winterization can lead to damage and water leaks not covered by warranty.
- Troubleshooting: The control display and mobile app provide fault messages for issues such as LED life, power faults, temperature faults, and filter capacity. These messages guide users on necessary actions, which may include contacting the manufacturer, checking cables, monitoring water and environmental temperatures, or replacing filters.
The ArrowMAX™ HOME is a robust and user-friendly system, but proper installation by a qualified technician and adherence to maintenance guidelines are essential for its long-term performance and to ensure warranty validity.
