8. Wiring of Humidity Model (Time Delay with Humidity Sensor Over-ride)
This version of the fan can be utilised in two ways:
1. Humidity only sensing - Requires Live and Neutral. The fan will only switch on when it detects
that the humidity level in the room is higher than the set level, it will run until the humidity level
has dropped below the set level and stop. For the fan to operate in this way connect the Live and
Neutral as Diagram 1 - Standard and Pullcord models.
2. Humidity sensing with manual activation - Requires Neutral, Switched Live and Permanent Live.
Not only will the fan activate when it detects the humidity level in the room has risen above the
set level, it can be manually switched on using the Switched Live. The Switched Live can be
connected to either a remote switch such as a ceiling mounted pullcord switch or to the lighting
circuit so the fan is switched on when the lights are switched on.

Setting the RUN ON time:
The length of time the fan continues to run after the Switched Live is turned off can be adjusted by the
timer adjuster on the top of the fan.
WARNING: ENSURE THE POWER TO THE FAN IS TURNED OFF BEFORE MAKING ADJUSTMENTS
Insert a small flat blade screwdriver into the adjuster and rotate clockwise to reduce the run time or
anti clockwise to increase it. Min approx 1 minute, Max approx 30 mins.

Setting RUN ON time and Humidity set Level:
The run on time is how long the fan continues to run for after the pullcord or remote switch is turned
off. To reduce the time turn the adjuster anti-clockwise (min approx 1 min) to increase it, turn the
adjuster clockwise (max approx 40 mins). The humidity set level is the amount of humidity present
before the fan will switch on. To raise the level before switching turn the adjuster clockwise, to lower
the level turn the adjuster anti-clockwise.

Overview

This document describes the Addvent AVX100QS, AVX100QP, AVX100QT, and AVX100QH Whisper Quiet Fans, which are designed for ventilation purposes, with specific models offering humidity sensing and timer functions.

Function Description

The Addvent Whisper Quiet Fans are designed to extract air from a room. Different models offer varying functionalities:

  • Standard Models (AVX100QS, AVX100QP): These fans require a Live and Neutral power supply. They can be operated either from a separate pullcord switch (not included, if not a pullcord model) or connected to the lighting circuit to activate when the lights are switched on. The AVX100QP is a pullcord model with an integral on/off switch.
  • Timer Models (AVX100QT, AVX100QH): These models require Neutral, Switched Live, and Permanent Live supplies. They include a timer function, allowing the fan to continue running for a set period after the Switched Live is turned off.
  • Humidity Models (AVX100QT, AVX100QH): These fans incorporate a humidity sensor and can operate in two ways:
    1. Humidity only sensing: Requires Live and Neutral. The fan switches on when the room's humidity level exceeds a preset level and runs until the humidity drops below that level.
    2. Humidity sensing with manual activation: Requires Neutral, Switched Live, and Permanent Live. The fan activates when humidity rises above the set level or can be manually switched on via the Switched Live (e.g., connected to a remote pullcord switch or the lighting circuit).

Important Technical Specifications

  • Power Supply:
    • Standard/Pullcord Models: Live and Neutral.
    • Timer/Humidity Models: Neutral, Switched Live, and Permanent Live.
  • Fuse Requirement: A double pole fused spur with a contact separation of at least 3mm in all poles MUST be used and fitted with a 3A fuse.
  • Installation:
    • Fixed wiring only; a flexible cord should not be used.
    • Minimum installation height: 1.8 metres from the floor (except for ceiling installations where applicable).
    • Hole size for wall mounting: 112mm (4½").
    • Cable protrusion for connection: 230mm (9").
  • IP Rating: The fan must be installed in the zone appropriate to its IP rating (stated on the rating label) and level of circuit protection.
  • Insulation: Double insulated, does not require an earth.

Usage Features

  • Timer Adjustment: For timer and humidity models, the run-on time (how long the fan continues to run after the Switched Live is turned off) can be adjusted using a flat blade screwdriver.
    • AVX100QT/AVX100QH: Anti-clockwise rotation increases run time (min approx 1 min, max approx 40 mins); clockwise rotation decreases it.
    • AVX100QS/AVX100QP: Clockwise rotation reduces run time (min approx 1 min, max approx 30 mins); anti-clockwise rotation increases it.
  • Humidity Set Level Adjustment: For humidity models, the humidity set level (the amount of humidity present before the fan switches on) can be adjusted.
    • Clockwise rotation raises the level (fan switches on at higher humidity).
    • Anti-clockwise rotation lowers the level (fan switches on at lower humidity).
  • Manual Activation (Humidity Models): Can be manually switched on via a Switched Live connection, in addition to automatic humidity sensing.
  • Remote Switching: The fan can be connected to a remote switch (e.g., a 3 Amp double pole fused spur with a remote switch) for activation.
  • Zone Suitability: The fan's IP rating determines its suitability for installation in specific zones within a bathroom or shower area. It is not suitable for installation within a shower cubicle or where it may be sprayed with water. Pullcord models are not suitable for ceiling installation.

Maintenance Features

  • Disconnection for Maintenance: The fan must be disconnected from the electrical power before any maintenance or adjustment is carried out.
  • Cleaning: User maintenance and cleaning should not be performed by children without supervision.
  • Adjustments: Timer and humidity settings can be adjusted with a screwdriver.
  • Cover Removal: The front cover can be removed by unscrewing two small screw caps and two retaining Philips screws to access internal components for wiring or adjustments.

Important Safeguards

  • Always switch off the mains supply before making any electrical connections or adjustments.
  • Consult a qualified electrician if in any doubt about installation or use.
  • Read all instructions carefully and retain for future reference.
  • Precautions must be taken to avoid back-flow of gases from open flues of gas or other open-fire appliances when mounted in outside walls or windows.
  • Children aged 8 years and above, and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, may use the appliance if supervised and instructed on safe use and understanding of hazards. Children must not play with the appliance.
  • All installations must comply with building and wiring regulations.
