Overview

This document is a user manual for AEG refrigerators, specifically models ORK7M391EW and ORK7M391EX. It provides comprehensive information on the appliance's functions, usage, maintenance, and safety warnings.

Function Description:

The AEG refrigerator is designed for storing food and beverages in a domestic indoor environment. It utilizes No-Frost technology, which circulates dry and cold air homogeneously throughout the refrigerator compartment to prevent humidity and freezing, eliminating the need for manual defrosting. The appliance features a control panel for temperature settings and various modes.

Control Panel and Operating Features:

The control panel includes a fridge temperature set button, a super cooling symbol (LED), an alarm symbol (LED), and a fridge adjusted temperature indicator.

  • Fridge Temperature Set Button: Used to set the desired temperature for the fridge compartment. Pressing this button cycles through temperature settings (2°C, 4°C, 5°C, 6°C, 8°C, Super cooling).
  • Super Cooling Mode: This mode is activated by pressing the temperature set button until the super cooling light illuminates. It is ideal for rapidly cooling large quantities of food or for preparing the fridge for seasonal food storage. For optimal performance, it is recommended to activate this mode 6 hours before placing fresh food in the fridge. The super cooling mode automatically deactivates after 6 hours or when the cooling sensor temperature drops below 2°C.
  • Alarm Symbol (Alarm LED): Illuminates red in case of a problem within the fridge, such as improper temperature levels or a cooling process failure.
  • Temperature Indicator: Located in the coldest area of the refrigerator, it displays an "OK" message when the temperature is set correctly for optimal food storage. If "OK" does not appear, the temperature may not be properly set.

Accessories:

  • Extra Chill Drawers: These pull-out drawers are designed to preserve the taste and texture of fresh fish, meat, and cheese by maintaining a lower temperature compared to the rest of the fridge, thanks to active cold air circulation. Flaps on the rear wall behind the Extra Chill drawer allow control over the amount of cool air entering the drawer; keeping them open ensures the best airflow.
  • CustomFlex (In some models): This feature offers customizable storage space within the refrigerator door, with mobile containers that can be rearranged or removed for easy access.
  • The Fresh Dial (In some models): Located in front of the crisper, this dial controls the air and humidity rate within the crisper, extending the life of food. It should be opened when the crisper is full or if condensation is observed on the glass shelf.
  • Turbo Fan (if available): Ensures efficient air circulation. Users should avoid blocking the air inlet and outlet openings to prevent impaired air circulation.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Operating Voltage: 220-240 V at 50Hz.
  • Refrigerant: R600a (isobutane), an environmentally friendly and natural gas. Care must be taken during transportation and installation to prevent damage to cooler elements, as R600a is explosive.
  • Climate Class: The appliance is designed to operate within specific ambient temperature ranges (e.g., T for Tropical: 16°C to 43°C; ST for Subtropical: 16°C to 38°C; N for Temperate: 16°C to 32°C; SN for Extended Temperate: 10°C to 32°C). Operating outside these limits may affect cooling effectiveness.
  • Dimensions:
    • Overall dimensions (without handle, including top hinge): H1* 1860 mm, W1 595 mm, D1 650 mm.
    • Space required in use (including handle, plus space for cooling air circulation): H2 1900 mm, W2 600 mm, D2 718 mm.
    • Overall space required in use (including handle, cooling air circulation, and minimum door opening angle for internal equipment removal): W3 917 mm, D3 1158 mm.
  • Electrical Information (UK type plug): The appliance must be earthed and fitted with a BS 1363A 13A fused plug. A 13A fuse, ASTA approved to BS1362, is required for replacement.

Usage Features:

  • Installation: The appliance should be placed in a cool, well-ventilated room, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. It must be kept upright for at least 3 hours before plugging in for the first time to ensure efficient operation and prevent compressor damage.
  • Food Storage:
    • Liquids should be stored in sealed containers to reduce humidity and frost formation.
    • Warm food should be cooled to room temperature before placing it in the refrigerator to ensure adequate air circulation.
    • Avoid direct contact between items and the rear wall to prevent frost buildup.
    • Meat and clean fish should be loosely wrapped and stored on the glass shelf above the vegetable bin.
    • Loose fruit and vegetables should be stored in crisper containers, ideally separated to prevent ethylene-sensitive vegetables from being affected by ethylene-releaser fruits.
    • Do not place wet vegetables in the refrigerator.
    • Packaged foods should be consumed before their recommended expiry date.
    • Do not store meat products with fruit and vegetables to avoid cross-contamination.
    • Do not block the air flow passage with food.
  • Door Opening: Avoid frequent and prolonged door openings to prevent warm air entry and unnecessary compressor operation.
  • Energy Saving: Hints include proper installation, cooling warm food before storage, covering liquids, avoiding frequent door openings, keeping compartment covers closed, maintaining clean and pliable door gaskets, and using the Eco mode.
  • Noise: Normal operation may produce cracking (ice cracking) noises during defrosting or temperature changes, motor noise from the compressor, bubbling and splash noises from refrigerant flow, and air blowing noise from air circulation.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning:
    • Always disconnect the appliance from the power supply before cleaning.
    • Do not wash by pouring water directly on it.
    • Use a solution of bicarbonate of soda and lukewarm water for regular cleaning.
    • Avoid abrasive products, detergents, or soaps.
    • Rinse with clean water and dry carefully.
    • Ensure no water enters the lamp housing or other electrical components.
    • Clean accessories separately by hand; do not use a dishwasher.
    • Clean the condenser with a brush at least twice a year to save energy and increase productivity.
  • LED Lighting: If the appliance has LED lighting, contact the help desk for replacement by authorized personnel only.
  • Door Reversal: The opening direction of the door can be changed on models without handles or with side-mounted handles. Refer to the separate document for instructions.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides a guide for common issues like the alarm LED turning on or the fridge not operating, offering steps to check power, plug connections, fuses, and socket functionality before calling for service. It also addresses poor performance (overloading, incorrect temperature settings, dust on condenser, insufficient space) and humidity buildup.
