Overview

This document is a user manual for the AEG SCE819E7TS Fridge Freezer, providing comprehensive instructions for its installation, daily use, care, and troubleshooting.

The AEG SCE819E7TS is a fridge freezer designed for household and similar applications, including farmhouses, staff kitchen areas in shops and offices, and residential environments like hotels and bed and breakfasts. It is intended to store food and beverages, with specific compartments for fresh food and frozen items. The appliance uses isobutane (R600a) as a refrigerant, which is a natural gas with high environmental compatibility.

Function Description

The appliance features a control panel with a display that shows temperature indicators for both the fridge and freezer compartments, along with various function icons. Users can switch the appliance on and off, and regulate the temperature for both compartments. The recommended default temperatures are +4°C for the fridge and -18°C for the freezer, with adjustable ranges from 2°C to 8°C for the fridge and -15°C to -24°C for the freezer.

Several special functions enhance the appliance's usability:

  • Coolmatic function: This feature is designed for rapid cooling of large amounts of warm food, such as after grocery shopping, to quickly chill products and prevent warming of existing refrigerated items. It activates the fan automatically and stops after approximately 6 hours, or can be manually deactivated.
  • Holiday mode: This mode allows the fridge compartment to be kept empty during long holiday periods, reducing bad odors while the freezer continues to operate normally.
  • Frostmatic function: This function accelerates the freezing of fresh food and protects already stored foodstuffs from undesirable warming. It is recommended to activate it at least 24 hours before placing food to be frozen. The function stops automatically after 52 hours or can be manually deactivated.
  • DYNAMICAIR function: This device in the refrigerator compartment ensures rapid cooling of food and maintains a more uniform temperature. It activates automatically when needed or can be switched on manually. The fan associated with this function stops when the door is open and restarts upon closing.
  • ChildLock function: This feature locks the control panel buttons to prevent unintentional operation.
  • DrinksChill function: This function sets an acoustic alarm at a preferred time, useful for cooling food products for a specific duration or as a reminder for items placed in the freezer for fast cooling. The timer can be set from 1 to 90 minutes.
  • High temperature alarm: An alarm sounds and indicators flash if the freezer compartment temperature increases, for example, due to a power failure. The sound can be switched off by pressing any button.
  • Door open alarm: If the fridge door is left open for approximately 5 minutes, an audible alarm sounds and the alarm indicator flashes. The alarm stops when the door is closed.

Usage Features

The AEG SCE819E7TS offers flexible storage solutions:

  • Positioning door shelves: The door is equipped with runners, allowing shelves and bins to be arranged according to individual preferences. They can be lifted and re-inserted into desired positions.
  • Movable shelves: The refrigerator walls have runners for positioning shelves as desired. The appliance also includes a two-part shelf where the front half can be placed under the second half to make better use of space.
  • SpinView® shelf: This shelf rotates 360 degrees in both directions, providing better visibility and reachability of stored products. It can be positioned at different levels inside the fridge. Users are cautioned not to spin it too fast or place fingers under it, and not to use it as an external tray. It should not be placed on the highest level to avoid contact with the DYNAMICAIR device.
  • Vegetable drawer: A dedicated drawer is provided for storing fruits and vegetables. Instructions are given for its removal and reassembly for cleaning.
  • Freezing fresh food: To freeze fresh food, the Frostmatic function should be activated at least 24 hours beforehand. Food should be stored evenly distributed in the top compartment or drawer.
  • Storage of frozen food: When first activating or after a period of disuse, the appliance should run for at least 3 hours with the Frostmatic function on before storing frozen products.
  • Ice-cube production: The appliance comes with trays for making ice cubes. Metallic instruments should not be used to remove trays from the freezer.
  • Cold accumulators: These are included to increase storage time during power cuts or breakdowns and should be placed in the front top area of the appliance for best performance.

Maintenance Features

Regular care and cleaning are essential for optimal performance and longevity:

  • Cleaning the interior: Before first use, the interior and all accessories should be washed with lukewarm water and neutral soap, then dried thoroughly. Abrasive powders, chlorine, or oil-based cleaners should not be used as they can damage the finish. Accessories and parts are not suitable for dishwashers.
  • Periodic cleaning: The appliance should be cleaned regularly. The inside and accessories should be cleaned with lukewarm water and neutral soap. Door seals should be checked and wiped clean to ensure they are free from debris.
  • Defrosting the refrigerator: Frost is automatically eliminated from the refrigerator evaporator during normal use. The defrost water drains into a special container at the back of the appliance, where it evaporates. The defrost water drain hole in the middle of the channel should be periodically cleaned using the provided tube cleaner to prevent water overflow.
  • Defrosting the freezer: The freezer compartment is frost-free, meaning no frost builds up on internal walls or food during operation.
  • Removing the SpinView® shelf: The SpinView® shelf can be removed from the glass shelf for cleaning. It should not be disassembled or cleaned in a dishwasher.
  • Period of non-operation: If the appliance is not in use for a long period, it should be disconnected from the electricity supply, emptied of food, cleaned, and the doors left open to prevent unpleasant smells.
  • Closing the door: To ensure proper closure, door gaskets should be cleaned. If necessary, the door can be adjusted or defective gaskets replaced by an Authorized Service Centre.
  • Replacing the lamp: The appliance is equipped with a long-life LED interior light. Only service personnel are allowed to replace the lighting device.
