The AEG SKE818E1DC is a refrigerator designed for household and similar applications. Its primary function is to store food products at cool temperatures, preserving their freshness and extending their shelf life. The appliance is not suitable for freezing foodstuffs. It features a refrigerator compartment equipped with a DYNAMICAIR device for rapid cooling and uniform temperature distribution. The appliance uses isobutane (R600a) as a refrigerant, which is a natural gas with high environmental compatibility.

Usage Features

The refrigerator offers several features to optimize food storage and user convenience:

Control Panel: The appliance is operated via a control panel with a display, temperature warmer and colder buttons, an OK button, and a Mode button. The display shows the set temperature and various function indicators.

Temperature Regulation: Users can set the desired temperature for the refrigerator compartment, with a recommended default of +4°C. The temperature range can be adjusted between 2°C and 8°C. The set temperature is reached within 24 hours and remains stored after a power failure.

Coolmatic Function: This function is ideal for rapidly chilling large amounts of warm food, such as groceries after shopping. It helps prevent other food already in the refrigerator from warming up. The Coolmatic function activates the fan automatically and runs for approximately 6 hours, or it can be deactivated manually.

Holiday Mode: Designed for periods when the appliance will be empty for a long time, this mode reduces energy consumption and minimizes the formation of bad odors. It switches off automatically if a different temperature is selected.

DYNAMICAIR Function: This device ensures rapid cooling of food and maintains a more uniform temperature throughout the refrigerator compartment. It activates automatically when needed or can be switched on manually. The fan operates only when the door is closed. Activating this function increases energy consumption.

ChildLock Function: To prevent unintentional operation, the ChildLock function locks the control panel buttons.

DrinksChill Function: This feature allows users to set an acoustic alarm for a preferred time (from 1 to 90 minutes), useful for cooling food products for a specific duration. An audible alarm sounds at the end of the countdown.

Door Open Alarm: If the refrigerator door is left open for approximately 5 minutes, an audible alarm sounds, and an alarm indicator flashes. The alarm stops when the door is closed. The sound can be muted by pressing any button, or it will automatically switch off after about an hour to avoid disturbance.

Internal Configuration:

Door Shelves: The door shelves are adjustable, allowing users to customize storage space for various package sizes.
Movable Shelves: The refrigerator walls have runners for flexible positioning of shelves. Some models include a two-part shelf where the front half can be placed under the second half for better space utilization.
Vegetable Drawer: A dedicated drawer is provided for storing fruits and vegetables. It can be easily removed for cleaning.
Variable Storage Box: Some models are equipped with a movable storage box that can be shifted sideways.

Activating the fan (DYNAMICAIR) can accelerate cooling and homogenize internal temperatures.

Maintenance Features

Proper maintenance is crucial for the appliance's longevity and efficient operation:

Cleaning the Interior: Before first use, and periodically thereafter, the interior and all accessories should be washed with lukewarm water and a neutral soap, then thoroughly dried. Detergents, abrasive powders, chlorine, or oil-based cleaners should not be used as they can damage the finish. Accessories and parts are not suitable for dishwasher cleaning.

Periodic Cleaning: The appliance should be cleaned regularly. This includes cleaning the inside and accessories with lukewarm water and neutral soap, checking and wiping door seals, and rinsing and drying thoroughly.

Defrosting of the Refrigerator: The refrigerator compartment features automatic defrosting. Defrost water drains through a trough into a special container at the back of the appliance, where it evaporates. It is important to periodically clean the defrost water drain hole in the middle of the refrigerator compartment channel to prevent water overflow and dripping onto food. A tube cleaner is provided for this purpose.

Period of Non-Operation: For long periods of non-use, the appliance should be disconnected from the electricity supply, emptied of all food, cleaned, and the door left open to prevent unpleasant smells.

Replacing the Lamp: The appliance is equipped with a long-life LED interior light. Lamp replacement should only be carried out by an Authorized Service Centre.
