Alternatively, the power supply might have failed, necessitating a replacement of the 12V DC power supply. A flat battery could also be the issue, in which case you should recharge it. For S300, 305, 500 & 505 models, damage may require a unit replacement. Lastly, a damaged sensor head would need to be replaced.

The background gas level might be higher than normal, or an interferent gas could be present; in either case, move the sensor to clean air to check if the reading goes to zero or close to zero. Sensor zero drift could also be the cause, requiring you to ZERO CAL the sensor in a clean, stable background. In some cases, the sensor may be damaged and need replacement.

  An unstable reading on your Aeroqual Laboratory Equipment can stem from several sources. The power supply might be unstable or have an incorrect current rating; in either case, install a stable power supply with the correct rating. High local airflow or fluctuating environmental conditions can also cause instability; reduce the airflow and environmental fluctuations to resolve this. For S500/505 units, EMI noise picked up via the RS232 cable and PC could be the problem; unplug the cable to see if this reduces the instability, and if it does, isolate the power on the PC.
