Overview

The Aguri DX4000 is a Drive Assist device that combines a Full HD Micro Video Recorder (dash cam) with speed limit and speed trap detection software. It is designed to enhance driving safety and awareness by providing real-time information and recording capabilities.

Function Description

The primary function of the Aguri DX4000 is to act as a dash cam, continuously recording video footage in 1-minute loops. It supports two recording options:

  • Normal (NOR): All recordings are saved into an "Infinite" folder on the SD card.
  • Normal + Event (NOR+EVT): Recordings are saved in 1-minute loops, but if the G-sensor detects an incident (e.g., sudden impact or movement), the affected section of the recording is saved and locked into an "Event" folder on the SD card, preventing it from being overwritten. This feature is highly recommended for preserving critical incident footage.

In addition to its dash cam capabilities, the DX4000 incorporates Drive Assist features, providing alerts for various road conditions and potential hazards:

  • Speed Limit Display: It shows the speed limit of the road you are currently travelling on.
  • Speed Trap Alerts: The device alerts you to fixed speed traps (such as Gatso, Truvello, or DS2 cameras) and mobile speed trap locations/high-risk zones.
  • Red Light Camera Alerts: It provides warnings for red light cameras, including combination red light and speed trap cameras.
  • Speed Limit Change Alerts: The unit can be set to alert you when you transition from one speed limit zone to another.
  • User Speed Warning: You can configure the device to alert you when you exceed the posted speed limit by a pre-set amount (e.g., 1mph, 2mph, etc.).

The DX4000 is equipped with a built-in GPS for accurate speed and location tracking, which also automatically sets the time and date. It supports a rear-facing camera (available separately) for comprehensive video coverage.

Usage Features

Getting Started:

The device comes with a pre-installed 16GB micro SD card and the latest speed limit and speed trap database. To begin, simply insert the SD card (if not already installed) and attach your chosen windscreen bracket.

Mounting:

The DX4000 can be mounted on the windscreen using either a suction cup bracket or a fixed 3M adhesive bracket. For dashboard mounting, the fixed bracket can also be used, and the LCD view can be inverted to accommodate this orientation. It is crucial to mount the device in a position that provides an unobstructed view of the road without hindering the driver's view or interfering with vehicle controls. For fixed brackets, allow 24 hours for the adhesive to cure for a strong bond.

Powering On/Off:

Switch the Power On/Off switch to 'On'. The DX4000 will automatically power on and begin recording when it receives power (e.g., from the vehicle's cigarette lighter socket) and will power off when the power source is removed.

Settings Menu Navigation:

The device features a touch screen for easy navigation. Soft push the settings 'cog' icon on the standby screen to access the main menu, which includes 'Dash cam', 'Drive Assist', and 'Playback' options. Use the 'return arrow' and 'X' icons to navigate back or exit menus. If there's no activity for 60 seconds, the device will automatically save settings and return to the standby screen.

Dash Cam Settings:

  • Mic On/Off: Toggle audio recording within the vehicle.
  • Volume Control: Adjust the audio output level from 'Mute' to '5' (loudest).
  • G-Sensor Sensitivity: Adjust the sensitivity (from 'Off' to '5') of the G-sensor, which detects impacts or sudden movements and automatically saves/locks video footage.
  • Time Stamp: Enable or disable the display of time and date on recorded videos.
  • REC.option (Record option): Choose between 'Normal' and 'Normal + Event' recording modes.
  • LCD Brightness: Cycle through 'Bright', 'Dark', or 'Normal' brightness levels.
  • Auto Brightness: Enable automatic adjustment of LCD brightness based on ambient light conditions.
  • LCD Auto Off: Set the LCD to stay on, or automatically switch off after 1 or 30 seconds. The LCD will automatically switch back on for speed trap alerts or speed limit changes.
  • Display Mode: Choose between 'Cam' (combined recording view and Drive Assist info) and 'Assist' (Drive Assist info only, with background recording).
  • In Screen View (with rear camera): Select which camera view (Front, Rear, or F+R) appears on the standby screen.
  • Speed Unit: Set speed limits and your speed to display in MPH or KMH.
  • Status LED Setting: Toggle the LED indicator on or off.
  • Set Time and Daylight Saving: GPS automatically sets the time and date, but you can adjust for Daylight Saving.
  • Calibrate Touch Screen: Re-calibrate the touch screen if needed for improved accuracy.
  • GPS Speed: Fine-tune the displayed GPS speed to match your vehicle's speedometer more closely.

Drive Assist Settings:

  • Smart Mute: When enabled, audible speed trap alerts are only received when travelling above the posted speed limit.
  • Speed Trap Alerts: Switch fixed speed trap alerts on or off.
  • Mobile Speed Trap Alerts: Switch mobile speed trap alerts on or off.
  • Red Light Camera Alerts: Switch red light camera alerts on or off.
  • Speed Limit Change Alert: Enable or disable alerts when the speed limit changes.
  • User Speed Warning: Set a threshold (e.g., 1mph, 2mph over the limit) for alerts when exceeding the speed limit.
  • Vehicle Type: Select your vehicle type (Car, Truck & Van, Motorhome, Caravan, Bus/Coach) to ensure correct speed limit display.
  • Setting Vehicle Weight: If you change the vehicle type from 'Car' to a larger vehicle, you must enter the vehicle's weight for accurate speed limit information.
  • Vehicle Trailer: If towing a trailer with a 'Car' vehicle type, enable this option for correct speed limit display. This is not needed for other vehicle types as they already account for towing.

Playing Back Video Footage:

  • On Computer: Remove the SD card, insert it into your computer using the supplied adapter. Navigate to the "Infinite" folder for continuous recordings (front camera in '1', rear camera in '2') or the "Event" folder for G-sensor-locked recordings (front camera in '1', rear camera in '2').
  • On DX4000: From the main menu, select 'Playback', then choose 'Normal' or 'Event' footage. Select between front or rear camera footage and use arrows to scroll and play.

Maintenance Features

Formatting the SD Card:

It is recommended to format the SD card approximately once every three months to extend its life. New SD cards should also be formatted before use. Be aware that formatting will delete all contents, so transfer any desired video footage to your computer beforehand.

System Reset:

The device can be reset to its original factory settings if needed.

Software and Database Updates:

The DX4000 comes with the latest information pre-installed. However, speed trap databases, speed limit information, and system software can be updated. Updates are available on the Aguri website (www.aguriworld.co.uk). To update, download the zipped files, unzip them, transfer the contents to the SD card, re-insert the card into the DX4000, and power it on. If multiple updates are available, install them one at a time, starting with the Drive Assist application software, then the Speed limit database, followed by the Speed trap database update. Check the 'Information' screen in the Dash cam settings menu or the Aguri website for details on available updates.

Disposal Information:

The device should not be treated as normal household waste. It should be handed over to an applicable collection point for the recycling of electrical equipment in the European Union to prevent negative environmental impact and conserve natural resources. Contact your local civic office or recycling centre for more information.

Warranty:

The Aguri DX4000 comes with a standard 12-month warranty. To receive technical support or service under warranty, the unit must first be registered at www.aguriworld.co.uk. The warranty is void if the product has been dropped, mistreated, subjected to heat/moisture, opened/dismantled, or powered with non-supplied cables/chargers. For warranty returns, ship the unit in suitable protective packaging with insured delivery, including your name, address, problem description, contact number, serial number, and proof of purchase.
