Overview

The ASPIRE A200S Patient Stander - Aluminium is a compact and ergonomically designed mobile stander with a generous safe working load (SWL) of 200kg, intended for use in home care, institutional, and aged care environments. Its primary function is to facilitate patient transfers from a sitting to a standing position with comfort and safety.

Function Description

The ASPIRE A200S operates as a mobile patient stander, assisting individuals who require support to transition between sitting and standing. It is designed to be used with the assistance of one carer or attendant. The stander utilizes an electric actuator system for raising and lowering the boom, ensuring smooth and controlled movements during transfers. This system is powered by LINAK Jumbo Care electronics, which are industry-leading components, and the device has been designed and tested to comply with AS/NZS ISO 10535:2011 standards. The stander's base can be spread electrically to maximize stability during transfers, and it features a foot platform for patient positioning.

Usage Features

The ASPIRE A200S offers several features to enhance its usability and patient comfort:

  • Compact T-shape Yoke: This design provides versatility in patient grip points and multiple sling hooks, accommodating various user and carer needs. The yoke is depth-adjustable, allowing it to be set to the required depth for optimal patient positioning. To adjust the depth, an adjustment pin is released and then re-secured. For complete removal (e.g., for inspection), a grub screw under the boom must be removed and subsequently replaced.
  • Adjustable Knee Pads: The knee pads are both height and width adjustable, offering lower leg comfort and security during transfers. Adjustments are made using dedicated adjusters for height and width.
  • Handset Control: The stander's functions, including raising/lowering the boom and leg spread (if applicable), are controlled via a handset. The handset also features battery charge indicators and a service indicator. Buttons must be pressed and held to activate functions, and released to deactivate.
  • Emergency Lowering: In the event of a fault or discharged batteries, an emergency lowering mechanism is available. This is activated by lifting a red tab located on top of the actuator, allowing the patient to be safely lowered.
  • Emergency Stop Button: A red emergency stop button is located on the control unit. Pressing it flush will immediately stop all stander operations. To disengage, the button is twisted clockwise until it pops out.
  • Castor Brakes: The rear castors are equipped with brakes to secure the stander in position. To engage, a foot is placed on the brake pedal and sufficient downward force is applied. To disengage, the toe is placed underneath the pedal and lifted up.
  • Sling Compatibility: The stander is designed to work seamlessly with Aidacare approved patient slings, specifically the Deluxe Padded Standing Sling. Users are advised to only use slings assessed and considered suitable by a trained healthcare professional.
  • Patient Positioning Guide: A detailed standing guide outlines the steps for patient sling positioning, attaching the sling to the yoke, and lifting the patient. This includes ensuring the patient's feet are positioned shoulder-width apart on the foot platform and that the patient grips the yoke for stability. It also emphasizes the importance of opening the stander legs to maximum width and positioning it close to the chair.

Maintenance Features

To ensure prolonged working life and trouble-free operation, the ASPIRE A200S requires periodic inspections and maintenance:

  • Battery Charging: The stander is supplied with a LINAK external wall mount charger compatible with standard Australian power outlets. The battery pack is removed from the stander via a top-mounted release lever and connected to the charger. The charger automatically activates the charging sequence, indicated by an orange light, which turns off when fully charged. A green light indicates mains power connection. Users are advised to charge the battery whenever possible to maximize battery life and never allow it to fully discharge.
  • Regular Checks: Routine checks include ensuring castors are securely fastened, run smoothly, and are free of debris; verifying rear castor brake function; cleaning surfaces with a pH neutral detergent (avoiding chlorine and phenol-based detergents); checking all moving parts and pivot points for fatigue and lubricating if necessary; and inspecting all electrical components, including the battery and charger, for normal function.
  • Actuator Shaft Care: The actuator shaft should only be wiped with a cloth and should NOT be lubricated. For maintenance related to the actuator, Aidacare maintenance should be contacted.
  • Lead Management: All leads should be inserted, fastened, and kept clear of the rear castors. The handset, charger, and mains power cable should be stowed when transporting the stander to prevent loss or damage.
  • Service Indicator: The handset features a service indicator that illuminates when the recommended service interval (12 months or 8000 lift cycles) has been reached, signaling the need for servicing to maintain safety and warranty.
  • Professional Servicing: A full load test should be completed at least every 12 months by an Aidacare service technician. For commercial environments, electrical test and tag procedures should align with risk assessment and compliance requirements.
  • Troubleshooting Guide: The manual provides a troubleshooting guide for common issues, such as warning alarms, power LED not illuminating, actuator not running, or slow operation. It emphasizes that troubleshooting should only be carried out by Aidacare authorized service technicians.
  • Warranty: The product comes with a warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship, with specific periods for the frame (5 years), LINAK Actuator and Controller (3 years), and LINAK Battery Pack (12 months). Warranty is contingent upon annual servicing.
