Do you have a question about the Aircraft Clean-Flush PIL-PC12-001-1 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The Clean Flush Model PIL-PC12-001-1 is a self-contained aircraft toilet designed to provide a hygienic and odor-free flushing experience. It incorporates a unique dual-compartment concept that separates bowl-rinsing fluid from the waste compartment, a significant improvement over single-compartment systems that used an offensive mixture for bowl rinsing. This design eliminates the need for troublesome strainers and filters, as the flushing pump is mounted in the clean flushing reservoir. The toilet is manufactured by Aircraft Technologies Inc., an FAA Certified Repair Station.

Function Description:

The primary function of the Clean Flush toilet is to provide a self-contained waste disposal system for aircraft. Its dual-compartment design ensures that the flushing fluid remains clean and separate from the waste, contributing to a more hygienic and odor-free environment. The flushing mechanism is activated by a "FLUSH" switch, which pumps fluid from the reservoir to rinse the bowl thoroughly. The reservoir has a capacity for 10-13 flushes.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model Number: PIL-PC12-001-1
  • Type: Self-Contained Aircraft Toilet
  • Waste Container Capacity: 1.25 gallons (4.75 liters)
  • Flushing Pump: 2-pin, P/N 5250-A
  • Power Requirement: Operates on 28VDC aircraft power.
  • Flushing Fluid Capacity: Sufficient for 10-13 flushes.
  • Components: Includes a clean flush toilet assembly, vent fitting, pump hose (5/8D Teflon, wire re-enforced), hinge mounting angle, hinge, self-locking nuts, pan head screws, lid assembly, bowl assembly, waste container cap with warning label, cabinet assembly, timer box assembly, and cabinet wire harness.

Usage Features:

  • Ease of Use: To use the toilet, simply lift the cover and ensure the waste container cap is stowed. To flush, close the cover and activate the "FLUSH" switch.
  • Hygienic Operation: The dual-compartment system ensures that the bowl is rinsed with waste-free fluid, preventing unpleasant odors and maintaining hygiene.
  • Odor Neutralization: The recommended Clean Flush Flushing Fluid and Powder are designed to neutralize offensive odors without masking them with perfumes.
  • Antifreeze Compatibility: Clean Flush Antifreeze (CFA-002) can be added to the pre-charge mixture for operation in sub-freezing temperatures, ensuring trouble-free operation without harming the toilet's components.
  • Self-Contained Design: Eliminates the need for external ground servicing equipment for routine operation.

Maintenance Features:

  • Waste Container Servicing:
    1. Lift the bowl assembly straight up and tilt it backward to rest on the cabinet seal.
    2. Place the cap firmly onto the waste container.
    3. Remove the container by grasping both handles.
    4. Dispose of contents in a commode and rinse the container.
    5. Pre-charge the container with approximately 1 pint of water and 2 ounces of Clean Flush Flushing Fluid (CFF-001 or CFF-003) or ½ tablespoon of Clean Flush Flushing Powder (CFP-006) or 1 packet of pre-measured Clean Flush Flushing Powder (CFP-004). Add Clean Flush Antifreeze (CFA-002) if operating in sub-freezing temperatures.
    6. Reinstall the waste container and stow the cap.
  • Flushing Reservoir Servicing:
    1. Lift the bowl assembly and tilt it backward as described above.
    2. Fill the reservoir with water to the "Fill to Here" line.
    3. Add 2 ounces of Clean Flush Flushing Fluid (CFF-001 or CFF-003) or ½ tablespoon of Clean Flush Flushing Powder (CFP-006) or 1 packet of pre-measured Clean Flush Flushing Powder (CFP-004). Consider adding antifreeze if necessary.
    4. Replace the bowl assembly and wipe down the bowl and seat with ammonia-free disinfectant.
  • Troubleshooting: A detailed troubleshooting guide is provided for common issues such as the toilet not cycling or insufficient flushing liquid. This guide helps isolate problems related to aircraft power, switches, wiring, pump motor, timer, fluid levels, hoses, or pump impellers.
  • Pump Replacement (P/N 5250-A):
    1. Disconnect power.
    2. Lift bowl assembly, disconnect pump wire plug.
    3. Place bowl assembly seat side down on a protected surface.
    4. Remove wire clamp screws (P/N N-2) and clamps.
    5. Remove the pump by pulling straight up and rocking. Note the presence of sealant/adhesive or foam tape. Cutting the hose may ease removal.
    6. Remove the hose from the bowl fitting.
    7. Clean the cavity of sealant/adhesive or foam tape.
    8. Lubricate the new hose ends with silicone grease and install it on the bowl fitting.
    9. Apply sealant or foam tape to the pump cavity, ensuring the small hole is not covered.
    10. Place the new pump into the cavity, aligning the hose with the pump barb fitting.
    11. Press the pump into the cavity and onto the hose. The pump power wire outlet should be approximately 3/16” from the bowl surface.
    12. Replace wire clamp(s).
    13. Lubricate the plug and socket with electrical silicone grease and connect.
  • Pump Power Wire Connector Replacement: Instructions are provided for replacing the socket and plug, including details on wiring polarity and the use of silicone sealant. Special tools may be required for plug pin replacement.
  • Functional Test: After maintenance, a functional test involves filling the reservoir, checking connections to aircraft power, pump power wire, and flush switch, then depressing the flush button to observe flushing action for approximately 1 second.
  • Additives: The manual details the use of Clean Flush Flushing Fluid, Clean Flush Flushing Powder (available in pre-measured packets or bulk), and Clean Flush Antifreeze, all designed to be safe, non-staining, and effective for odor neutralization and cold weather operation.
