Summary

Assemble the Base

Bottom Plate Positioning

Place bottom plates on the base and join with 4 legged plates. Ensure the side with threaded bushings faces up.

Upholstered Frame Assembly

Assemble frame parts loosely with angle brackets. Position frame parts on bottom plates without fully tightening screws.

Frame Tightening and Wooden Frame Assembly

Angle Bracket Tightening

Loosely tighten angle brackets at corners. Firmly tighten inner screws first, then all angle brackets.

Wooden Frame Assembly

Assemble wooden frame parts with angle brackets. Attach brackets to bottom plates, position parts, and screw loosely.

Head and Foodend Frame Attachment

Place dowels and angle brackets in head/foodend parts. Position on bed, fasten to long sides, and tighten all screws firmly.

Cover and Mattress Installation

Cover Positioning and Fixing

Position lower cover at foot end, zip off top cover. Fix paddles through lower cover holes to bottom plates.

Frame Placement in Cover

Place long sides of foam frame in cover, then head and food end parts. Note Modulex has sloping, Modulex Q has straight sides.

Heater and Safety Liner Installation

Position heater, lead wire under frame. Place and zip safety liner Zipliner onto cover. Place divider for dual mattress systems.

Water Mattress and Final Zipping

Place water mattress in safety liner. After filling, zip top cover onto lower part. See instructions for covers.

Overview

The AKVA Modulex and Modulex Q 2016 are bed systems designed for comfortable and stable support, featuring a modular construction for ease of assembly and maintenance. These systems are characterized by their robust frame, integrated heating elements, and water mattress compatibility, offering a customizable sleeping experience.

Function Description

The primary function of the AKVA Modulex and Modulex Q 2016 is to provide a stable and comfortable foundation for a waterbed mattress system. The modular design allows for straightforward assembly of the bed frame, which then supports the various components including the cover, foam frame, safety liner, heater, and water mattress(es). The system is designed to securely hold the water mattress, ensuring proper weight distribution and stability. The integrated heating element maintains the desired water temperature, contributing to a comfortable sleep environment.

Important Technical Specifications

The assembly process highlights several key technical aspects of the bed system:

  • Base Assembly: The base is assembled using bottom plates and 4-legged plates. The bottom plates feature threaded bushings on the upward-facing side, ensuring secure attachment of subsequent components. This design emphasizes stability and ease of connection.
  • Frame Construction: The bed frame can be either upholstered or wooden. Both types utilize angle brackets for assembly.
    • Upholstered Frame: The frame parts are initially assembled with angle brackets that are loosely tightened. This allows for minor adjustments before final firm tightening. The tightening sequence is crucial: inner screws first, then all angle brackets firmly. This method ensures proper alignment and structural integrity.
    • Wooden Frame: Similar to the upholstered frame, the wooden frame parts are assembled with angle brackets that are firmly tightened. These angle brackets are then screwed to the bottom plates. The initial attachment to the bottom plates is not 100% firm, allowing for final positioning before complete tightening.
  • Frame Integration: Dowels and angle brackets are used to connect the head and foot end frame parts to the long side parts. This interlocking mechanism enhances the overall rigidity and stability of the bed frame. All screws are firmly tightened at the final stage of frame assembly.
  • Cover System: The bed features a two-part cover system: a lower part and a top cover. The lower part is positioned with the AKVA logo at the foot end. Fixing paddles are used to secure the lower cover to the bottom plates. The foam frame parts (long sides, then head and foot end) are placed within the cover. The top cover is zipped onto the lower part after all internal components are installed.
    • Modulex vs. Modulex Q: A notable distinction is the side profile of the foam frame: Modulex features sloping sides, while Modulex Q has straight sides. This difference likely affects the aesthetic and potentially the overall feel of the bed's edge.
  • Heating System: The heater(s) are positioned within the bed, with the wire routed under the foam frame and through a designated hole in the lower part of the cover. This integrated heating system is crucial for maintaining the water mattress temperature. Specific assembly instructions for the Akva Vital Electronics heater are referenced, indicating a specialized component.
  • Liner System: A safety liner, specifically the Zipliner, is placed in the bed and zipped onto the cover. This liner serves as a protective barrier, containing any potential leaks from the water mattress and preventing damage to the bed frame.
  • Mattress Configuration: The system supports both single and dual mattress configurations. For dual mattress systems, a divider is placed in the middle. The water mattress(es) are then placed within the safety liner.
  • Water Mattress Filling: The process involves filling the mattress, removing surplus air, and adding one or two bottles of "Long Life" solution. This "Long Life" additive is typically a conditioner designed to prevent algae growth and maintain the integrity of the water mattress material over time.

Usage Features

The AKVA Modulex and Modulex Q 2016 are designed for user convenience and a tailored sleeping experience:

  • Customizable Comfort: The water mattress system allows for personalized firmness and temperature control, catering to individual preferences.
  • Modular Assembly: The modular design simplifies initial setup and potential disassembly for relocation or maintenance.
  • Integrated Heating: The built-in heater ensures the water mattress maintains a comfortable temperature, which can be particularly beneficial for therapeutic purposes or in colder climates.
  • Safety Liner: The Zipliner safety liner provides peace of mind by containing any potential water leaks, protecting the bed frame and surrounding environment.
  • Dual Mattress Option: The ability to accommodate dual mattresses allows couples to customize their individual sleeping preferences without affecting their partner.

Maintenance Features

Maintenance of the AKVA Modulex and Modulex Q 2016 primarily revolves around the water mattress and cover system:

  • Water Mattress Care: Regular addition of "Long Life" solution is essential for the longevity and hygiene of the water mattress, preventing microbial growth and material degradation. Instructions for water mattresses are referenced, indicating specific care guidelines.
  • Cover Maintenance: The two-part cover system, with a removable top cover, likely facilitates easier cleaning and maintenance of the fabric components. Instructions for covers are referenced, suggesting specific cleaning or care procedures.
  • Heater Maintenance: While not explicitly detailed, the integration of the Akva Vital Electronics heater implies specific maintenance guidelines for this component, likely outlined in its dedicated manual.
  • Frame Integrity: The robust frame construction, with firmly tightened screws and angle brackets, is designed for long-term stability. Periodic checks of screw tightness might be recommended to ensure continued structural integrity.
  • Liner Inspection: Regular inspection of the safety liner for any signs of wear or damage is crucial to ensure its protective function remains intact.
