Overview

This document provides a quick start guide and detailed information for the Alcatel ONE TOUCH 6033 mobile phone, covering its functions, usage, and maintenance.

The phone is a unibody device, meaning its back cover and battery are not removable. If the phone is not working normally, a restart can be initiated by pressing and holding the Power key for at least 7 seconds until the startup screen appears. For more serious errors that cannot be resolved by a simple restart, a factory reset may be necessary. This is performed by pressing and holding the Power key and Volume up key until the startup screen appears, then using the Volume up/down key to select "factory reset" in the system recovery menu, and finally pressing the Power key to confirm. It is important to note that a factory reset will erase all personalized settings and data, such as SMS, Contacts, and Music. For a complete user manual and additional support, users can visit www.alcatelonetouch.com.

The device features several keys and connectors. The Power key locks/lights up the screen, shows a pop-up menu for Ringer mode, Airplane mode, Power off, Quick start, or Restart, powers the device on, captures a screenshot when pressed with the Volume down key, mutes incoming calls, ends conversations during a call, and restarts the phone if it's unresponsive (by pressing for more than 7 seconds). The Volume keys adjust earpiece/headset volume during calls, media volume in music/video/streaming modes, ringtone volume in general mode, mute incoming calls, act as a capture key in Camera mode, and light up the screen during a call. The micro-USB/headset adapter connector is used for charging and connecting a headset.

The front of the phone includes a front camera. The bottom of the screen features a Back key, Home key, and Recent apps key. The Recent apps key opens a list of recently used apps, allows opening an app by touching its thumbnail, and removes a thumbnail by swiping it left or right. Touching and holding the Recent apps key acts as a Menu key, providing access to Wallpaper, Manage applications, and Settings. The Home key returns the user to the Home screen from any application. The Back key navigates to the previous screen or closes dialog boxes, options menus, or the notification panel. These keys are visible when the screen lights up.

Setting up the phone involves inserting a SIM card. The phone must be powered off before inserting or removing the SIM card. The SIM card is inserted into the slot with the chip facing downwards until it locks. To remove it, gently push the SIM card until it unlocks. Connecting a headset requires plugging the headset adapter into the micro-USB/headset adapter connector, then plugging the headset into the adapter jack. The battery is charged by connecting the charger to the phone and a mains socket. The charging status bar may not float if the battery is deeply discharged. To conserve power, users are advised to disconnect the charger when the battery is full, switch off Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, or background applications when not in use, and reduce backlight time.

The touchscreen supports various gestures. "Touch" accesses applications. "Touch and Hold" on the home screen accesses wallpaper settings. "Drag" moves items to different locations. "Slide/Swipe" scrolls through screens, applications, images, and web pages. "Flick" is similar to swiping but faster. "Pinch/Spread" scales elements on the screen. "Rotate" automatically changes screen orientation.

The status bar displays phone status (right side) and notification information (left side). Status icons indicate GPRS/EDGE/3G connection, GPS data reception, roaming, vibrate mode, ringer silenced, mute, battery level, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth connection, airplane mode, alarm, and signal strength. Notification icons show new messages, missed calls, call on hold, call forwarding, uploading/downloading data, data synchronization, song playing, input method selection, screenshot error, USB tethering, portable Wi-Fi hotspot, screenshot captured, carrier data use threshold, system update, VPN connection, and calls in progress.

The notification panel is accessed by dragging down the status bar. It displays notifications and quick settings for functions like Wi-Fi, brightness, and timeout. Notifications can be deleted by sliding them sideways. The Settings icon provides access to phone settings. The search bar allows searching within applications, the phone, or the web. The screen can be locked/unlocked using patterns, PINs, or passwords.

The Home screen can be personalized by adding applications, shortcuts, folders, and widgets. Items can be repositioned by touching and holding them, then dragging them to the desired location. Items can be removed by dragging them to the "Remove" icon. Folders can be created by stacking items and renamed by touching the folder's title bar. Wallpaper can be customized through Settings/Display. The application tab, accessed from the Home screen, lists all applications. Recently used applications can be consulted via the Recent apps key.

Text input is primarily done via the Android keyboard. The keyboard allows switching between "abc/Abc" modes, symbol/numeric keyboards, and voice input. Text editing features include selecting, cutting, copying, and pasting text. Volume adjustment for ringer, media, and phone ringtone can be done via the Volume up/down keys or Settings/Audio profiles.

The applications and widgets list contains all pre-embedded and installed applications. The Google Play Store icon provides access to download more apps.

Phone calls are initiated through the Phone app. Numbers can be dialed directly or selected from contacts or call logs. Numbers can be saved to contacts. Incoming calls can be answered by sliding the icon rightward or rejected by sliding it leftward. The icon can also be slid upward to reject a call with a preset message. Incoming calls can be muted by pressing Volume up/down or turning the phone face down if "Turn over to mute" is activated. Call memory can be accessed from the Dial screen. Speed dial settings allow assigning contacts to keys 2-9.

The People app manages contacts. New contacts can be created, and contacts can be imported/exported from/to SIM card, Phone, Phone storage, or Accounts. Contacts can also be shared via Bluetooth or Gmail. Contacts and other information can be synchronized from multiple accounts.

Messaging allows creating, editing, and receiving SMS and MMS. Messages can be saved in phone memory or SIM card. To write a new message, touch the new message icon. Text messages are sent by entering the recipient's number or selecting recipients, typing the message, and touching send. MMS supports sending video clips, images, photos, animations, slides, and audio. An SMS converts to MMS automatically when media files or email addresses are added.

Email functionality supports Gmail and external POP3/IMAP accounts. An email wizard guides the setup process. Emails can be created, sent, and drafts saved.

Internet connectivity is provided via GPRS/EDGE/3G networks or Wi-Fi. The phone automatically configures network service with a SIM card. Wi-Fi can be turned on/off and connected to networks via the notification panel and Settings. The Browser app allows surfing the web.

Connecting to a computer via USB cable enables transferring media and other files. USB debugging must be enabled in Settings/Development for MTP or PTP modes.

Location services use GPS satellites. To activate, go to Settings/Location services/GPS satellites and mark the checkbox. Maps can be used to find location.

Data backup allows backing up phone settings and application data to Google Servers with a Google Account. This function is activated in Settings/Backup and reset/Back up my data.

Factory data reset erases all personal data, including Google Account information, system settings, and downloaded applications. It does not erase system software updates. This can be done via Settings/Backup and reset/Factory data reset/Reset phone/Erase everything. If the phone cannot power on, a factory reset can be performed by pressing the Volume up key and Power key simultaneously until the screen lights up.

Applications and internal storage are managed through Settings/Storage. Built-in Google and third-party applications are available for communication, navigation, and downloads. If phone memory is limited, users are advised to free up space by deleting unwanted applications and files.

Software upgrades can be performed using ONE TOUCH Upgrade tool or FOTA Upgrade tool. ONE TOUCH Upgrade requires downloading and installing software on a PC. FOTA Upgrade is accessed via the notification panel or Settings/About phone/System updates. Data connection is required for FOTA updates.

Safety and use guidelines emphasize traffic safety, advising against mobile phone use while driving. Hearing protection is crucial, recommending against high volume levels for long periods. Privacy concerns are addressed, urging users to respect laws regarding taking photographs and recording sounds. Battery precautions include not opening, puncturing, disassembling, or short-circuiting the battery, and proper disposal.

The device complies with national SAR limits of 2.0 W/kg. Specific maximum SAR values are provided (Head SAR: 0.291 W/kg, Body-worn SAR: 0.820 W/kg). For body-worn operation, a separation distance of 1.0 cm is recommended.

Troubleshooting tips cover issues like a frozen phone, inability to charge, network connection problems, and internet access issues. For a frozen phone, check battery level and restart using the Power key. For charging issues, ensure the battery is not completely discharged and charging conditions are normal. For network problems, check location, network coverage, SIM card validity, and try manual network selection. For internet issues, verify IMEI, internet access service, connection settings, and network coverage.

Other troubleshooting advice includes:

  • Invalid SIM card: Ensure correct insertion, no damage, and service availability.
  • Outgoing call issues: Verify valid number, country/area codes, network connection, subscription status, and airplane mode.
  • Incoming call issues: Check phone is on, network connection, subscription status, and call forwarding/barring settings.
  • Caller name/number not displayed: Check subscription and if caller concealed identity.
  • Contact issues: Ensure SIM card is not broken, inserted properly, and contacts are imported.
  • Poor sound quality: Adjust volume, check network strength, and clean receiver/connector/speaker.
  • Feature usage issues: Check subscription and if an ALCATEL ONE TOUCH accessory is required.
  • Cannot dial from contacts: Verify number recording and country prefix.
  • Cannot add contacts: Check SIM card contact capacity.
  • Voicemail issues: Contact network operator, check voicemail number, and try later if network is busy.
  • MMS issues: Check phone memory, network operator service/parameters, server centre number, and try later.
  • SIM card PIN locked: Contact network operator for PUK code.
  • Computer connection issues: Install ALCATEL ONE TOUCH Android Manager, check USB driver, Android Manager Agent activation, USB debugging, computer requirements, and cable.
  • Download issues: Ensure sufficient phone memory and subscription status.
  • Bluetooth detection issues: Ensure Bluetooth is on, visible to other users, and within range.

To extend battery life, follow complete charge times, wait for accurate indicator readings after partial charges, switch on backlight only when needed, extend email auto-check intervals, update news/weather manually, exit background apps, and deactivate Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or GPS when not in use. The phone may warm up during prolonged use, which is normal.
