Why is my Alfa Laval Alfie cleaning system/separator not starting?
    • D
      Dustin BallSep 12, 2025
The cleaning system/separator might fail to start due to several reasons. It could be due to no power supply, so check the mains switch, fuses, and supply line. Another cause might be the bowl hood interlock not being in the correct position, so ensure it is positioned correctly. A defective magnetic switch indicating the position of the bowl hood interlock could also be the problem; check that the switch opens and closes when the interlock is moved. Incorrect assembly after cleaning, preventing free rotation of the bowl and motor shaft, can also be a cause, so dismantle and check. Lastly, voltage protection for frequency control might trip due to unstable voltage; check the voltage, and if unstable, connect a transformer.

What to do if my Alfa Laval Alfie Other separator vibrates?
    • K
      Kimberly AguilarAug 21, 2025
Separator vibration can occur due to several reasons. One cause is the bowl being out of balance due to insufficient or incorrect cleaning, unevenly spaced sludge cake, or incorrect assembly. To resolve this, dismantle and thoroughly clean the separator bowl, ensuring correct reassembly. Worn vibration dampers can also cause vibration, so consider fitting new dampers. Damaged bearings are another potential cause, and in this case, you should replace the bearings.

Why does my Alfa Laval Alfie separator stop?
    • B
      Bradley FloresAug 23, 2025
The separator might stop due to several reasons. The bowl hood interlock could be out of the correct position, so reposition it. Overload due to a clogged disc stack is another possibility, requiring you to clean the separator disc stack. Incorrect assembly can also cause the separator to stop, so check the bowl assembly. A tripped frequency converter due to voltage issues might be the cause; therefore, check the voltage and connect a transformer if it's unstable. Finally, a defective frequency converter can cause the issue, in which case you should replace the frequency control in the control cabinet.

What to do if my Alfa Laval Other pump stops?
    • R
      Robin ZhangAug 26, 2025
The pump may stop because the collecting tank is filled, so empty the tank and restart the pump. It could also be due to overload caused by a clogged strainer; clean the strainer, noting that the motor protector in the control unit is automatically reset. Another possible cause is counter pressure at the separator outlet being lower than 50 kPa. In this case: * Check that the suction inlet is not above the surface in the tank. * Check for obstructed inlet line. * Check the function of the regulating valve. * Adjust the counter pressure. * Check the direction of rotation for separator and pump. Finally, overload caused by an obstructed inlet or outlet side can stop the pump, so ensure sufficient feed through the whole system.

How to fix noise issues in Alfa Laval Alfie Other?
    • J
      Jennifer BlairAug 27, 2025
Noise issues in your Alfa Laval Other appliance can stem from a few sources. Worn vibration dampers in the separator could be the culprit, so fitting new dampers is recommended. Incorrect assembly of the separator bowl can also cause noise, requiring you to dismantle and check the assembly. Lastly, damaged bearings can generate noise, necessitating the fitting of new bearings.

Why is there some liquid escaping through drain outlet to collecting tank in my Alfa Laval Alfie?
    • L
      Lance RichmondSep 1, 2025
Liquid escaping through the drain outlet to the collecting tank can occur for several reasons. High counter pressure at the outlet can cause this; reduce the counter pressure with the regulating valve (100 - 180 kPa is recommended) and reduce the flow by adjusting the screw fitted in the pump. Leaking O-rings in the separator are another potential cause, so replace the O-rings. A clogged disc stack can also lead to this issue; clean the bowl and disc stack. Additionally, if the three screws fastening the bowl hood or the paring disc knob are not completely tightened, it can cause leakage; tighten the screws and/or the knob.

Why is there no flow from the Alfa Laval Other pump?
    • C
      Charles DownsSep 3, 2025
A lack of flow from the pump can be attributed to several factors. An incorrect setting of the flow control, resulting in too low speed of pump, may be the cause; start with maximum flow. If the screw fitted in the pump is not closed, it can cause excessive internal leakage; turn the adjustment screw clockwise. Air leakage on the suction side between the tank and pump can also prevent flow; check that the inlet is below the surface in the tank and that couplings are correctly fitted.

What causes oil flow through drain outlet to collecting tank only in Alfa Laval Other?
    • M
      Matthew GilbertSep 5, 2025
If oil flows only through the drain outlet to the collecting tank, and you are operating in purifier mode, it could be due to a broken liquid seal in the separator bowl; stop the pump and add water through the inlet at the top of the separator. Another cause could be an obstruction in the cleaned oil feed line; check that the regulating valve is open and that the outlet end to the tank is open (no closed check valve in hose connection).

Why is the Alfa Laval Other collecting tank overflowing but the pump does not start?
    • N
      Nancy HansonSep 7, 2025
If the collecting tank is overflowing but the pump isn't starting, it could be due to an incorrect adjustment of the spring tension for the tank support; adjust the setting. A faulty limit switch could also be the cause.

Why is the flow too low in my Alfa Laval Other?
    • A
      Amy ThomasSep 10, 2025
Low flow can be due to several reasons. A worn or broken impeller in the pump can cause this; replace the impeller. High counter pressure at the outlet is another possible cause; reduce the counter pressure with the regulating valve (100 - 180 kPa is recommended). Leakage caused by incorrect assembly can also lead to low flow; ensure the three screws fastening the bowl hood or the paring disc knob are completely tightened, and dismantle and check the separator bowl parts, especially ensuring no O-rings are missing, defective, or incorrectly fitted, and verify correct assembly. Finally, if the separator or pump rotates in the wrong direction, it can reduce flow; check the power supply cables.
