Why is there smoke coming from my ALLAN'S Ecomax Auto-Stoker Boiler?
    • J
      James CordovaNov 22, 2025
If you notice smoke at the cowl or coming from your ALLAN'S Boiler or Hopper, here's what to do: * Remove the smoke back tube and check for blockages along its entire length. Also, inspect the connection point on top of the coal feed screw pipe, making sure it's clear of any fines. * Open the plate on the blower to allow more air in for combustion. Clean the heat exchanger tubes, flue, and cowl. Ensure the area around the appliance is clear and that room ventilation is adequate. Also, clean the burn pot and retort. * Never use damp coal. Remove any damp coal from the hopper, coal feed screw, and burn pot, and replace it with fresh fuel. Ensure the holes in the burn pot aren't blocked. * Make sure the ash valve is completely closed without any gaps. If it's damaged, it will need to...

What to do if the water overtemperature switch has tripped on my ALLAN'S Ecomax Auto-Stoker?
    • J
      Jennifer ThomasAug 27, 2025
If the water overtemperature switch has tripped on your ALLAN'S Boiler, it could be because the water is too hot or the probe isn't properly seated. This switch requires manual resetting. Check that the pressure relief valve hasn't opened and released excess pressure. If it has, you'll need to refill the system.

Why is the coal feed screw not turning on my ALLAN'S Boiler?
    • S
      Stephanie MartinezAug 27, 2025
If the coal feed screw on your ALLAN'S Boiler isn't turning, a foreign object might be jamming it. Refer to the 'Dislodging a Stone from the Coal Feed Screw' section for instructions. It could also be due to gearbox or motor failure. Disconnect the motor from the gearbox and turn it on to see if the rotor still turns; replace if necessary. Remove the tension clip and turn the coal feed screw with a spanner to check if it's jammed. Remove the gearbox from the coal feed screw and turn the input shaft by hand; the output shaft should turn slowly. Replace if necessary.

Why is there a buildup of clinker in the burn pot of my ALLAN'S Boiler?
    • S
      Sean TorresAug 29, 2025
If you find a buildup of clinker in the burn pot of your ALLAN'S Boiler, it could be because the boiler is running cold. If the water in the water jacket is constantly below 65°, the boiler won't run efficiently. Check that the pump isn't running all the time or adjust the mixing valve.

What is the ideal pump water temperature setting for ALLAN'S Ecomax Auto-Stoker?
    • A
      Amanda KnappAug 30, 2025
The pump on your ALLAN'S Boiler is factory set to turn on when the water temperature reaches 65° (unless you're using a mixing valve). This prevents cold water from affecting combustion. The blower and coal feed screw are set to turn off at 75°. The residual heat should keep the water temperature from exceeding 85° after they shut off. If the water gets hotter than this, turn down the boiler thermostat. Higher water temperatures will improve the radiator response in your home.

How to clean blocked heat exchanger tubes in ALLAN'S Ecomax Auto-Stoker Boiler?
    • J
      Jordan JohnsonSep 18, 2025
To address blocked heat exchanger tubes in your ALLAN'S Boiler, use the spanner to lift the scrubber coils up and down to scrape the heat exchanger tubes. If they are jammed, they need to be freed.

Why are the tension pins regularly breaking on my ALLAN'S Ecomax Auto-Stoker Boiler?
    • S
      Samuel RomeroSep 8, 2025
If you are experiencing tension pins regularly breaking on your ALLAN'S Boiler, it could be due to a seam of coal with too many stones. Stones can be present in the fuel from the supplier or picked up during transport.

What to do if the ash pan is too full in my ALLAN'S Boiler?
    • F
      Frances SheltonSep 5, 2025
If you notice the ash pan is too full in your ALLAN'S Boiler, remove it and dispose of the ash. Vacuum or brush all ash from the ash pan area inside the appliance when it's cold.
