Overview

The Alpine RUX-H02 is a wireless knob designed to provide convenient control over compatible Alpine Display Audio units. This device connects wirelessly via Bluetooth® and offers a tactile interface for various audio adjustments.

Function Description:

The primary function of the RUX-H02 is to act as a remote control for specific operations on Alpine Display Audio units, including models such as iLX-507, iLX-F509, iLX-F511, and i509. It can also be physically mounted on the iLX-F509 and iLX-F511 for integrated control.

The device features a rotary knob that supports multiple functions:

  • Volume Control: Turning the Rotary Knob up or down adjusts the main volume of the connected Display Audio unit.
  • Subwoofer Volume Control: If a subwoofer is connected and its setting is enabled in the Display Audio's Sound Menu, pressing and turning the Rotary Knob simultaneously allows for adjusting the subwoofer's volume level up or down.
  • Bass Volume Level Adjustment: If no subwoofer is connected or its setting is turned off in the Sound Menu, pressing and turning the Rotary Knob simultaneously enables adjustment of the bass volume level within the Bass/Treble function of the Display Audio.

The RUX-H02 also includes an LED indicator that illuminates when the unit is connected or in operation, providing visual feedback on its status.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Connectivity: Bluetooth® wireless technology.
  • Power Source: The device is powered by a single CR2032 coin/button cell battery.
  • Components: The package includes the RUX-H02 unit, two mounting brackets (Mounting Bracket1 and Mounting Bracket2), one CR2032 battery, and two screws (Screw1 and Screw2) for installation.

Usage Features:

Connection Procedure:

  1. Battery Installation: The CR2032 battery must be inserted with the positive (+) side facing up. Once the battery is installed, the unit enters a connection standing-by mode, indicated by a flashing LED.
  2. Display Audio Setup:
    • Navigate to the "Setup" menu on the Display Audio unit.
    • Select "Device," then "Device List."
    • Choose "Add New Device."
    • Select "ALPINE KNOB" from the list.
    • Confirm the connection by selecting "YES" when prompted on the screen.

Operation:

  • The Rotary Knob is the central control element, allowing for intuitive adjustments of volume and other audio parameters as described above.
  • The LED indicator provides a quick visual cue of the unit's operational status.
  • The lid on the unit can be turned counter-clockwise to open, likely for battery access.

Mounting:

  • The RUX-H02 can be mounted using the included Mounting Bracket1 and Mounting Bracket2. These brackets facilitate mounting the unit to iLX-F509/F511 Display Audio units, either on the left or right side.
  • A remote control holder is also mentioned, which can be installed using double-sided adhesive tape or screws.

Automatic Reconnection:

  • If the Display Audio unit is turned off for a period, the RUX-H02 will disconnect. However, it will automatically reconnect when the Display Audio is turned on and the Rotary Knob is operated. Note that reconnection may take some time in certain situations.

Safety Precautions:

  • Driving Safety: Do not operate any function that distracts from safe driving. Always stop the vehicle in a safe location before performing such functions.
  • Volume Level: Maintain a volume level that allows you to hear outside noise while driving.
  • Battery Safety (Chemical Burn Hazard): The CR2032 battery can cause severe internal burns or death if swallowed. Keep new and used batteries away from children. If the battery compartment does not close securely, stop using the product. Seek immediate medical attention if a battery is suspected to have been swallowed or placed inside the body.
  • Battery Handling: Do not mix new and old batteries. Insert batteries with the correct polarity (+ and -). Dispose of used batteries according to instructions.
  • General Handling: Avoid dropping or applying shock to the unit. Keep it away from water, moisture, direct sun, heat, and excessive dust.
  • Mounting: When mounted to the Display Audio, avoid pressing the unit hard to operate it, as this may damage the Display Audio. If using the remote control holder, remove the remote control from the holder and place it in the glove compartment if exposed to direct sunlight.

Maintenance Features:

Cleaning:

  • Clean the unit with a soft, lint-free cloth or a cotton swab slightly dampened with a mild solution of detergent and water.
  • Do not use scouring pads, steel wool, abrasive powders, or harsh chemical agents (such as lye solution) for cleaning.

Troubleshooting (Connection Issues):

  • If the device does not function after making a connection, the manual suggests replacing the battery and then attempting to reconnect the unit.
  • If the LED turns off during the connection procedure, press the Rotary Knob to make the LED flash again, indicating it's ready for connection.

General Advice:

  • The manual emphasizes the importance of not disassembling or altering the unit, as this could lead to accidents, fire, or electric shock.
  • Small objects, including batteries, should be kept out of reach of children.
