Why is my Amana NED4600YQ taking so long to dry clothes?

If your Amana Dryer is not drying clothes well or drying times are too long, first, ensure that the lint screen is cleaned before each load. A clogged lint screen restricts airflow. Also, make sure you've selected the appropriate cycle for your garments. Large, heavy loads should be separated for more efficient tumbling. Check the exhaust vent for clogs or kinks, and ensure it's the correct length and diameter (4 inches). Insufficient airflow can significantly extend drying times. Also, ensure that the dryer is operating in a room with a temperature above 45ºF (7ºC), and that if the dryer is in a closet, there's adequate ventilation. Finally, only use one fabric softener sheet once to prevent blocking the grill.
