The Amazfit Band 5 is a smart band designed to help users monitor their health, track workouts, and receive notifications. It offers a range of functions accessible directly from the band or through a connected mobile application.

Function Description

The Amazfit Band 5 serves as a comprehensive personal health and activity tracker. Its core functions include:

• Health Monitoring: The band continuously monitors heart rate, providing both single measurements and continuous tracking. It classifies heart rate into zones (Relaxed, Warm-up, Fat burning, Aerobic, Anaerobic, Anaerobic limit) to help users understand workout intensity. Heart rate alerts can be set to notify users if their heart rate exceeds a predefined threshold when not engaged in strenuous activity. The band also measures blood oxygen saturation (SpO2), allowing users to track their current levels and view historical data. Sleep breathing quality is monitored to help calculate a sleep breathing quality score and promote good sleeping habits. Stress levels can be measured through single measurements or continuous monitoring, with the band automatically tracking stress in a resting state.
• Activity Tracking: The band tracks various real-time data such as steps taken, distance covered, calories burned, and idle alerts. It supports multiple workout types including outdoor running, treadmill, cycling, walking, general workout, swimming, elliptical trainer, rowing machine, yoga, and jump rope. For outdoor activities like running, cycling, and walking, the band can connect to the phone's GPS to record workout routes.
• Notifications and Alerts: The band vibrates and displays notifications for incoming calls, SMS messages, app alerts (from apps like WhatsApp and Facebook), email alerts, and event reminders. It also provides goal notifications when daily workout goals are achieved and idle alerts if the user has been sitting for an extended period. For MIUI system users, phone alarm alerts are supported.
• Smart Assistant and Utilities: The Amazfit Band 5 integrates with Alexa voice assistant, allowing users to query weather, set alarms, and add memos using voice commands. Other utility functions include DND (Do Not Disturb) settings with options for immediate activation, auto-activation during sleep, and custom periods. It features an alarm function with snooze mode, a remote camera control for the bound phone, a world clock to display different time zones, a calendar (for simplified/traditional Chinese language settings), a stopwatch for timekeeping, and a timer with a maximum duration of 99:59. The "Find my phone" function helps locate a connected phone.
• Music Control: When connected to a mobile phone playing music, the band displays music information and allows users to pause playback, switch tracks, and adjust volume. It supports various native and third-party music players both in and outside China.
• Customization: Users can customize the display of Level-1 menus and shortcuts on the band. Watch faces can be changed from a selection of online watch faces, photo watch faces, or two built-in editable watch faces where elements can be customized. Vibration modes can be customized for different alerts.

Usage Features

• Navigation: The band features a watch face page from which users can swipe up/down to access Level-1 menus and tap to view apps. Swiping left/right shows shortcuts and app details. On app details pages, swiping right or pressing the band button returns to the upper-level page, while swiping left/right switches between apps.
• Wearing: For accurate heart rate monitoring when not exercising, the band should be worn about one finger's distance from the wrist with appropriate tightness. During exercise, it should be worn comfortably tight to ensure close skin contact and prevent slipping.
• Charging: The band charges by aligning its metal contact points with the gold pins on the magnetic charging base. It does not need to be disassembled for charging. A charging icon appears on the screen when charging. Users can view time, call alerts, and app notifications while charging. Charging is recommended via a mainstream phone charger or PC USB port.
• Screen Activation: The "Lift wrist to view info" function activates the screen when the wrist is raised and turned towards the user. Sensitivity and activation periods can be set.
• Band Lock: The "Band lock" function, when enabled and a password is set, locks the screen if the band is removed from the wrist.
• Night Mode: When enabled, "Night mode" automatically lowers screen brightness at night. The effective period can be customized.
• Notifications Setup: To receive notifications, "App alerts" must be enabled in the bound app, and the band must maintain an active Bluetooth connection with the phone. Android users may need to add the app to a whitelist or auto-start list to ensure it runs in the background.
• Workout Start/End: Workouts can be started directly from the band's workout menu after a 3-second countdown. Workouts can be paused by long-pressing the button, and then resumed or ended.
• Data Viewing: Real-time status data is viewable on the band. Detailed workout data, including heart rate charts and durations in different heart rate zones, can be viewed in the bound app after synchronization. SpO2 measurement history is also accessible in the app.

Maintenance Features

• Cleaning: The band and strap should be regularly cleaned with water and dried with a soft cloth. Harsh cleaning agents like soap, hand sanitizer, or bath foam should be avoided to prevent skin allergies and device corrosion.
• Post-Activity Care: After bathing, swimming, or sweating, the device should be cleaned and dried immediately.
• Water Resistance: The band is water-resistant up to 50m, making it suitable for swimming pools and shallow waters. However, it should not be worn while diving or in a sauna.
• Corrosion Protection: The band is not waterproof to corrosive liquids such as acidic and alkaline solutions or chemical reagents. Damage caused by such exposure is not covered by the warranty.
