Why is my American Standard Ventilation Hood not venting properly?
- RRyan HessAug 1, 2025
To improve the venting of your American Standard Ventilation Hood, ensure that no birds or animals have nested in the duct. Also, verify that the distance between the cooktop and the bottom of the hood is between 18 and 28 inches. Check that the ductwork meets all requirements, using round metal ductwork with a uniform diameter of 6 inches, not exceeding 35 ft in length. Reduce ductwork length and elbows if needed, and ensure all joints are properly connected, sealed, and taped. Confirm the duct does not open against the wind. Use high speed for heavy cooking, close nearby windows to prevent air gusts, and slightly open a window on the opposite side of the house for better performance.
