Cherokee Installation Guide
Before You Begin:
Consult your local building department for any required permits
You may be required to obtain a building permit for this structure. Contact your local building
department for details.
Read instructions thoroughly
Please read all instructions and notes carefully prior to assembly. Americana is not responsible
for replacing parts lost or damaged due to incorrect assembly.
Check for all parts
Use the Parts and Hardware List to identify all parts. To prevent scratching of painted materials,
place on a tarp or other protective material.
Prepare surrounding area
Remove any obstructions around shelter location. Shelter installation should be scheduled after
all concrete and masonry work in the surrounding area is completed.
Assistance is required during entire assembly.
CAUTION
Proper site preparation is required.
Standard shade structure design does not include additional loads such as hanging heavy plants,
swings, or other objects.
DO NOT stand or sit on the shade structure roof.
Repair or replace broken parts immediately.
This kit contains parts with metal edges. Please be careful when handling.

Installation Steps

STEP 1: Post and Rafter Assembly

Layout posts and rafters, attaching them with 1/2" hex bolts and nuts.

STEP 2: Erecting Post/Rafter Assembly

Stand up the assembly into footing holes or over anchor bolts, plumb, brace, and fill with concrete.

OPTIONAL - Ridge Beam Installation

Position and attach the ridge beam to rafters and then attach the ridge cap.

OPTIONAL - Edge Beam Installation

Position and attach edge beams to rafters, then begin roof panel installation.

STEP 3: Ridge Cap Installation

Position and attach the ridge cap to the rafters using screws.

STEP 4: Gutter Installation

Position and attach the gutter to the rafters using screws.

STEP 5: Fascia and Corner Cap Installation

Attach projection fascia to ridge cap and gutter, securing with corner caps.

STEP 6: Roof Panel Installation

Install roof panels, attaching them to the ridge cap, gutter, and fascia.

STEP 7: Additional Roof Panel Installation

Continue installing roof panels, ensuring proper lock engagement and spacing.

STEP 8: Final Fascia and Roof Section Installation

Attach fascia to the opposite end and repeat roof panel installation steps.

STEP 9: Peak Cap Installation

Position and attach the peak cap to the projection fascias at the structure's peak.

STEP 10: Scupper Installation (Optional)

Attach scuppers to the gutter, ensuring proper sealing and screw placement.
