The AMSEC 5-Button Electronic Lock, Model PB3, is a precision-quality, high-security combination lock designed for use with AMSEC safes. It offers quick access to a security container with high reliability and ease of use. The lock is designed to be anchored to a permanent surface for maximum security.
The PB3 lock operates electronically, providing two programmable codes: a "Primary" code for everyday use and a "Backup" code for emergency access. The Primary code requires five (5) keystrokes, while the Backup code requires eight (8) keystrokes. A "keystroke" can be a single button press or two buttons pushed simultaneously. The buttons are numbered 1 through 5, starting from the left.
The lock comes with a factory default Primary code of 1-2-3-4-5. The Backup code is not kept at the factory and every PB3 lock comes with a default Backup code of 5-4-3-2-1-5-4-3. Users are strongly advised to change both the Primary and Backup codes to unique combinations to ensure security. The Backup code should be stored in a secure location, not inside the safe.
It is recommended to operate the lock several times with the door open to become familiar with its operation before closing and locking the safe.
