The electrical connection varies by model, with single-phase (1N-220-240V) and three-phase (3N-380-415V) options available. All models feature a 3/4" cold water connection, an overflow connection of Ø15 mm, and operate within a minimum-maximum pressure range of 1-8 bar.
Usage Features
The WKI-n boilers are designed for user-friendly operation.
- Control Panel: The control panel includes a thermometer (A), a tap with swivel arm (B), an adjustable thermostat (C), a cold water connection (D), an electrical connection (E), an overflow connection (F), an on/off switch (G), a filling switch (H), a dry-boil protection (I), a gauge glass tap (J), a gauge glass (K), a litre index (L), and a desaereation (M).
- Water Filling: To fill the boiler, the main stopcock must be opened, and the orange filling switch (H) pressed. The water level can be monitored via the gauge glass (K). The boiler will automatically shut off the water supply when the maximum capacity is reached.
- Temperature Control: The adjustable thermostat (C) allows users to set the desired water temperature between 30°C and 97°C. The boiler will heat up until the set temperature is reached.
- Brewing Coffee: For brewing coffee, the device can be equipped with a filter lid with water distributor, a combi-filter with basket filter insert, or a blender/transport disk. The process involves placing the filter paper and coffee into the container, tapping the water, and allowing it to brew for 1-1.5 hours.
- Brewing Tea: For brewing tea, a tea filter with disk is used. The process is similar to coffee brewing, with tea leaves placed in the filter and hot water added. The optimum extraction time is typically 4 minutes and a maximum of 15 minutes.
- Safety Features: The device includes dry-boil protection (I) which prevents damage if the water level is too low. It also has an overflow connection (F) to prevent overfilling.
Maintenance Features
Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and efficient operation of the WKI-n boiler.
- Cleaning: Daily cleaning involves wiping the outside with a clean, damp cloth and using a mild (non-abrasive) cleaning agent. It is important not to submerge or spray the unit with water.
- Descaling: Descaling is a critical maintenance task to prevent mineral buildup. The frequency of descaling depends on the hardness of the water and usage.
- Descaling Procedure:
- Switch off the WKI and remove the plug from the wall socket.
- Close the water supply tap and disconnect the connection hose.
- Remove the bottom plate by unscrewing the fastening bolt in the middle of the plate.
- Once the hexagonal plug has been removed from the red drain tap, the drain tap can be used to completely drain the water boiler.
- Remove the water boiler from the wall.
- Replace the parts mentioned in points 3 and 4.
- The WKI is now ready for transportation.
- When reinstalling the water boiler, carefully follow the instructions indicated in the "Installation" chapter.
- Descaling Agent: Animo recommends using a descaling agent (48 sachets for 50 grams art.nr. 49007).
- Descaling Steps:
- Allow the appliance to cool down.
- Unscrew the protective cap.
- Press the button which is now visible and firmly screw the protective cap back on.
- Add the scale remover to the heated water.
- Once the scale remover has been added, the water will start to foam. In extreme cases, where too much scale remover has been used, the foam may flow over the edge of the water boiler.
- When no more scale remover is required (no foaming occurs when more scale remover is added), drain the water boiler via the tap.
- In the event of obstinate boiler scale, repeat steps 5-9.
- Repeat steps 1-4 in order to drain the water boiler.
- Once all boiler scale has been removed, rinse the water boiler thoroughly with clean water, not forgetting to also rinse the tap.
- The water boiler is now ready for use again.
- Dry-Boil Protection Reset: If the heating system does not switch back on, it might be due to the dry-boil protection being triggered. To reset it:
- Allow the appliance to cool down.
- Unscrew the protective cap.
- Press the button which is now visible and firmly screw the protective cap back on.
If the dry-boil protection triggers owing to increased scale deposits, descale the appliance.
- Professional Servicing: Animo recommends that maintenance and repairs be carried out by a specially trained technician. For any issues beyond routine cleaning and descaling, it is advisable to contact a qualified technician.
The WKI-n series is compliant with EMV-Richtlinie 89/336/EEG, 92/31/EEG and Niederspannung-Richtlinie 73/23/EWG, ensuring it meets European standards for electromagnetic compatibility and low voltage directives.
