Overview

The Apitor Robot is a programmable building block kit designed for children aged 6 and up (Robot Q) or 7 and up (Robot S). It combines physical building with digital programming, allowing users to construct various robots and control them via a smartphone or tablet app.

Function Description

The core of the Apitor Robot system is the Control Module. This module integrates several key functionalities:

  • App and Gyroscope RC: Allows for remote control via a connected app and utilizes a gyroscope for motion sensing.
  • Multicolor LED Lights: Provides visual feedback and can be programmed for various effects.
  • Infrared Sensor: Detects objects and distances, enabling obstacle avoidance or object tracking.
  • Color Sensor: Identifies different colors, allowing the robot to react to colored lines or objects.
  • Motors: Drives the robot's movement.
  • Power Switch: Controls the power to the module.
  • Battery Case: Houses the batteries that power the module.
  • Compatibility: The Apitor Control Module is compatible with other building blocks, expanding creative possibilities.

The system is controlled through the "Apitor Kit" App, which is available on iOS and Android platforms. The app facilitates pairing with the control module, programming the robot's actions, and remote control.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Bluetooth Frequency: 2402-2480MHz.
  • Transmitting Power: < 0dBm.
  • Radio Equipment Type: APR041 (for Robot S) / APR042 (for Robot Q).
  • EU Declaration of Conformity: In compliance with Directive 2014/53/EU. The full text is available at www.apitor.com/conformity.
  • Battery Type: Requires 3 AA batteries (not included).
  • System Requirements for App:
    • Android 8 or higher
    • iOS 10 or higher
    • Bluetooth 4 or higher

Usage Features

1. Building and Assembly: The Apitor Robot kits come with building blocks that can be assembled into various robot models. The control module integrates seamlessly with these blocks.

2. Powering On and Battery Installation:

  • The control module requires 3 AA batteries.
  • Non-rechargeable batteries cannot be charged.
  • Rechargeable batteries should be charged under adult supervision and removed from the toy before charging.
  • Do not mix different models of batteries, or old and new batteries.
  • Exhausted batteries must be removed from the product.
  • Batteries must be inserted with correct polarity.
  • The supply terminals should not be short-circuited.

3. Connecting to the App:

  • Initial Connection: Short press the power button on the control module. Blue LED lights will flash every 1 second, indicating it's ready for connection.
  • Bluetooth Pairing: Enable Bluetooth on your tablet/smartphone and bring it close to the control module. Open the "Apitor Kit" App, click the pairing button, and follow the in-app steps for automatic pairing.
  • Important Note: Always connect the Apitor Robot from within the "Apitor Kit" App, not directly from the device's Bluetooth settings page.
  • Android Permissions: When installing the app on Android, allow all permission requests and enable "Location services" as required by the Bluetooth protocol.

4. LED Status Indication: The control module's LED lights provide important status information:

  • Blue lights flash every 1 second: Bluetooth is not connected (after power on).
  • Blue lights are always on: Bluetooth is connected.
  • Red lights flash twice every 0.2 seconds (short press power button): Power off.
  • Red lights flash twice every 0.2 seconds (press and hold power button for 10 seconds): Reset to factory defaults.
  • Blue lights flash 3 times every 1 second, then red lights flash 5 times every 1 second (only once): Low battery indicator, indicating a need to replace batteries.
  • Red lights flash twice every 0.2 seconds, then power off: Indicates that the power usage is too high or the batteries are insufficient, requiring battery replacement or reduced power usage.

5. Programming and Control: Once connected, users can program the robot's movements, light patterns, and reactions to sensor inputs using the "Apitor Kit" App. The app likely offers a visual programming interface suitable for young learners.

Maintenance Features

  • Battery Management: Proper battery handling is crucial for the longevity and safe operation of the device. Adhere to the battery installation instructions regarding type, polarity, charging (for rechargeable), and replacement.
  • Instruction Manual Retention: The instruction manual contains important information and should be retained for future reference.
  • Software Updates: Regularly check for updates to the "Apitor Kit" App to ensure compatibility, access new features, and benefit from performance improvements.
  • Cleaning: While not explicitly stated, it is generally good practice to keep the control module and building blocks clean and free from dust and debris to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Avoid exposing the electronic components to moisture.
