Overview

The DK-9821 MK-II is a multi-purpose digital access control keypad designed for stand-alone electric lock operation in residential and commercial installations. It offers a robust solution for managing access with various user types and programmable functions.

Function Description:

The primary function of the DK-9821 MK-II is to control an electric door lock (Output 1) based on user code entries. It supports multiple user types, including Master, Super User, Duress, and Visitor codes, each with distinct functionalities. The system monitors door status through a door position sensor, enabling features like auto re-lock, forced-open warning, and propped-up warning. It also includes an inter-lock control for two-door systems, ensuring only one door can be open at a time. Auxiliary outputs allow for integration with other security systems, such as alarms, CCTV cameras, or lighting.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Operation Voltage: 12V DC, 11-15V DC
  • Operation Current:
    • Quiescent: 16mA
    • Maximum: 78mA (Relays operating)
  • Output 1 (Door Lock): Solid State, Fail-Secure or Fail-Safe, 3A / 12VDC rating. Programmable for momentary (1-999 seconds) or start/stop (toggle) modes.
  • Door Bell Output: 50mA / 24VDC Max. rating, Tact Switch Normally Open Dry Contact.
  • Tamper Switch Contact: Normally Closed Dry Contact, 50mA / 24VDC Max.
  • Duress, Inter-lock & Key Active Output: NPN Open Collector, switches to ground when active, 24VDC / 100mA Sink.
  • User Code Combinations:
    • Single User Mode: 10,000 (User Code fixed at 4 digits)
    • Multi User Mode: Over 1 Million (User Code 4-8 digits programmable)
  • Auto Refreshing Time During Code Entry:
    • Each Digit Maximum Entry Time Limit: 10 seconds
    • Each Code Maximum Entry Time Limit: 30 seconds
  • Operating Environment: In-door use only
  • Operation Temperature: -20°C to +70°C
  • Ambient Humidity: 5-95% relative humidity (non-condensing)
  • Dimensions: 117(H) X 117(W) X 21(D)mm
  • Weight: 180g net

Usage Features:

  • Master Code: Used to enter programming mode and manage other codes. Can be 4-8 digits long.
  • User Codes (00-99): Up to 100 user codes for activating Output 1. Can be 4-8 digits.
  • Super User Code: A multi-task code (4-8 digits) that activates Output 1 and operates special functions, such as inhibiting Output 1 or releasing lock-up. It bypasses system inhibits and lock-ups for safety.
  • Duress Codes (0-9): 10 unique codes (4-8 digits) that activate Output 1 for door opening and simultaneously trigger the Duress Output without indication, reporting an event to an alarm system or auto-dialer. Duress output remains active until reset by a normal user or super user code.
  • Visitor Codes (0-9): 10 unique temporary codes (4-8 digits) for Output 1. Can be programmed for "One-Time Use" (cleared after one use) or with a "Time-Limit" (1-99 hours). All visitor codes are deleted after power loss.
  • Egress Input (EG IN): A Normally Open input that, when connected to ground via a button, activates Output 1 for the same duration as a user code. Multiple egress buttons can be connected in parallel.
  • Keypad Active Output (KEY ACT): An NPN transistor open collector output that switches to (-) ground for 10 seconds on each key press. Can be used to activate lights, CCTV, or a buzzer.
  • Door Position Sensor Input (DOOR SENS): A Normally Closed input that monitors door status via a magnetic door switch, enabling:
    • Door Auto Re-lock: Relocks the door immediately after valid access, preventing "tailgate" entries.
    • Door Forced-Open Warning: Generates an alarm if the door is forced open without a valid code or egress input. Warning lasts 60 seconds and can be stopped by a user code.
    • Door Propped-up Warning: Generates an alarm if the door is left open longer than a programmable time (1-999 seconds).
    • Inter-lock Control: Provides a (-) ground signal to disable other keypads in an inter-lock system when the door is open.
  • Output 1 Inhibit (O/P 1 INHIB.): A Normally Open input that, when tied to (-) ground, prevents user code 1 and the Egress button from activating Output 1. Used in inter-lock applications.
  • Inter-lock Control Output (INT. LOCK): An NPN transistor open collector output that switches to (-) ground for 5 seconds after valid access, then continues to tie to (-) ground if the door position sensor is open. Used to control other keypads in a two-door inter-lock system.
  • False Attempt System Lock-up & Reporting: Programmable options for keypad lock-up (30 seconds or 15 minutes) or Duress Output activation after 5-10 or 10 successive false code attempts. Lock-up can be released by a Super User Code.
  • Output Activation Announcer: Programmable notification (no notification, 2 short beeps, or 1-second long beep) when the door lock is opened.
  • User Code Entry Modes (Auto or Manual):
    • Manual (Default): Requires pressing '#' after entering a user code. Allows 4-8 digit codes of arbitrary length.
    • Auto: Does not require '#' after entry. All user codes must have the same digit length as the Master Code (4-8 digits).
  • Pacifier Tones (Key-press beeps): Programmable ON/OFF. Provides audible feedback for key presses and operation status (e.g., 1 beep for successful key entry, 5 beeps for unsuccessful entry).
  • Main Status LED Flashing: Programmable ON/OFF for the amber MAINS LED during standby.

Maintenance Features:

  • System Refresh (Complete Data Refresh): Allows erasing all current data in memory (except the Master Code) and resetting the keypad to default values, useful for new installations or when stored data cannot be traced.
  • Deleting User Codes & Other Function Codes: Individual user, super user, duress, and visitor codes can be deleted by entering their respective location and User ID.
  • DAP Jumper (Direct Access to Programming Mode): If the Master Code is forgotten, the DAP jumper on the main circuit board can be used to directly enter programming mode, allowing a new Master Code to be programmed. This involves disconnecting power, moving the jumper, reconnecting power, and then moving the jumper back to OFF.
