Do you have a question about the APTOOK OX-80P and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The APTOOK Crawl Space Dehumidifier is designed to reduce humidity in enclosed environments by removing water vapor from the air. It is suitable for use in basements, warehouses, villas, and other high-humidity areas such as kitchens, bathrooms, and archives. The dehumidifier helps prevent damage to telecommunications equipment and materials caused by dampness or rust.

Function Description:

The dehumidifier operates by drawing in humid air, processing it to remove moisture, and then releasing drier air back into the environment. It features multiple operating modes including Auto Mode, Continuously Drying Mode, and Sleep Mode, allowing users to select the most appropriate setting for their needs.

  • Auto Mode: This is the default mode upon startup, with a preset humidity of 50%. The compressor and fan start running if the environmental humidity is more than 3% above the machine's set humidity. If the environmental humidity falls below 3% of the set humidity, the compressor stops, and the fan stops after a 5-second delay, with a three-minute delay protection for the compressor. The set humidity is adjustable between 20% and 90%.
  • Continuously Drying Mode: In this mode, the dehumidifier runs continuously without being restricted by ambient humidity, provided it meets the three-minute delay protection for the compressor. Humidity cannot be adjusted in this mode.
  • Sleep Mode: This mode defaults to 60% humidity, which is adjustable. If there is no button operation for 10 seconds, the display enters a dark state. It returns to normal display upon button operation and re-enters the dark state after another 10 seconds of inactivity. In sleep mode, fault codes and water-full alerts are dimly displayed without beeping.

Additional Functions:

  • Intelligent Defrosting: The unit automatically initiates defrosting when a defrosting signal is detected, with the corresponding mode light flashing.
  • Timing Function: Users can set, query, or cancel a timer for the machine to turn on or off within a 0-24 hour period.
  • Water-Full Protection: If the water collection reaches its maximum capacity, the "FL" code flashes, the buzzer beeps 5 times, and the machine turns off. Normal operation resumes after drainage and power cycle.

Usage Features:

The unit is designed for indoor use and utilizes R32 (propane) as a flammable refrigerant. Users must read the manual carefully before operation, especially regarding safety precautions related to the refrigerant.

  • Control Panel: The dehumidifier features a user-friendly control panel with buttons for On/Off, Mode selection, Timer, and Add/Minus for adjusting humidity or time settings. The display shows humidity, temperature, and alerts (e.g., Water Full).
  • Temperature Display: Pressing the "Minus" button for 3 seconds will temporarily display the coil temperature before returning to ambient temperature.
  • Fahrenheit/Celsius Switch: Pressing the "Add" button for 3 seconds switches the temperature display between Fahrenheit and Celsius.
  • Installation: The unit can be placed on the ground or suspended. It comes with adjustable feet for ground placement and ceiling mount gaskets for suspended installation. A duct adapter is included for connecting an exhaust pipe (purchased separately).
  • Remote Control: The unit supports remote control functionality.
  • Drainage: The dehumidifier supports gravity drainage via a water pipe. An external pump drainage method is also available (pump not included) for vertical drainage. When using gravity drainage, ensure the drain hose is connected properly and the drainage facility is lower than the dehumidifier's drain outlet to prevent water backup and leaks.

Maintenance Features:

Regular cleaning and maintenance are crucial for optimal performance and longevity.

  • Safety First: Always turn off and unplug the machine before any cleaning or maintenance to prevent electric shock. Do not spill water on the machine.
  • Casing Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the casing. Avoid chemical solvents like benzene, alcohol, or gasoline, as they can damage the machine.
  • Filter Cleaning: The machine is equipped with a washable filter. It is recommended to clean the filter every 2 weeks, or once every 3 months for general use. Dust-blocked filters can reduce efficiency.
    1. Remove handle screws on both sides of the air inlet frame.
    2. Pinch the handle screws in the middle above the air inlet frame and pull outward to rotate and remove the air inlet frame.
    3. Remove the filter.
    4. Use a vacuum cleaner to absorb dust from the filter surface. For very dirty filters, rinse with tap water, then cool and dry completely before re-installing.
    5. Reassemble the filter into the air inlet frame buckle position, ensuring it is securely in place.
    6. Rotate and assemble the air inlet frame back into the machine, then lock the handle screws.
  • Machine Body Cleaning: Wipe the body with a soft, slightly damp cloth.
  • Storage: For long-term storage, drain all water from the machine, tidy the power cord, clean the filter, and store the unit in a fresh and dry environment.

Troubleshooting:

The manual provides a comprehensive troubleshooting guide for common issues like power outage, low air flow, water leakage, loud noise, and various error codes (E1, E2, CL, CH, LO, HI) with their respective causes and solutions. For example, "CL" indicates ambient temperature below 36°F, and "CH" indicates ambient temperature above 113°F, both triggering compressor shutdown and fan delay. "LO" and "HI" codes relate to ambient humidity being below 20% or above 95%, respectively.
