Why is the water from my Aqua Guard Water Filtration Systems dirty?

  Dirty water in your Aqua Guard Water Filtration System can stem from several issues. It could be insufficient filtration time, a heavy load of contaminants, or a dirty filter needing backwashing. Other potential causes include air leaks on suction, blocked pump impeller vanes, insufficient water supply, an unprimed pump, incorrect water chemistry, or excessive water flow for the filter size. Foreign matter or debris forced through the filter bed and under drain, other restrictions including pool suction cleaners, or clogged filter media may also be responsible. Operating the filter on recirculate will help determine if the restriction is in the filter. Backwashing or regeneration may be needed; refer to the maintenance section.

  Filter media returning to your Swimming Pool/Spa from Aqua Guard Water Filtration Systems can occur due to several reasons: the filter is on recirculate, damage to the under-drain laterals, damage or incorrect fit of Multi-Port Valve, or incorrect or mixed grades of media in the filter. First, verify that the media is actually coming from the filter and not another source.

  If you are experiencing above normal or excessive force to operate the Multi-Port Valve on your Aqua Guard Water Filtration Systems, it may be due to scoring or jamming caused by foreign matter or debris. If rinsing doesn't resolve the issue, disassemble the valve to clear any obstructions. Continued operation of the valve may result in a non-sealing condition (damage to spider gasket), leading to water loss to the backwash line or inefficient filtration.
