1/2” thermostatic valve
The thermostatic valve # 1004 is protected by a plastic protective
covering. It can be used for different functions :
A. It can be used as a rough-in cap for setting the depth of the
valve in the wall. If you look closely at the rough-in cap, you will see
the Min and Max written on it. That means that the thickness of the
finished wall must be in between those two marks, so the valve can
take the minimum depth at 2 7/16” and the maximum depth of 3 1/8”.
The depth recommended is 2 3/4” from the center of the inlet.

Rough-in Cap for Wall Cutout

Rough-in cap serves for finished wall cutout, ensuring access for future servicing.

Rough-in Cap for Valve Protection

Rough-in cap provides protection for the valve during installation by various trades.

Installing the Rough-In

Wall Installation Options

Install valve in 2x4 or 2x6 wall, setting depth at 2 3/4" from center of inlet.

Back Support Installation

Fit 3/4" plywood for better support; ensure correct depth before fitting valve temporarily.

Alignment and Securing

Correct horizontal/vertical alignment with a level on rough-in cap, then screw firmly to back support.

Connecting the Water

Water Pipe Connections

Connect hot (left) and cold (right) water pipes, and mixed water pipe; ensure piping is clear.

Recalibration Procedure

Remove handle components to recalibrate temperature; adjust adapter (10) clockwise to reduce.

Setting Ideal Temperature

Open shut-off valve (22), place thermometer, and turn adapter (10) to achieve 100F (38°C).

Reassembling Components

Reassemble handle parts, aligning red button to 100F position on temperature stop (9).

Cleaning the Check-Valve

Check-Valve Component Removal

Remove all components up to adapter (10) and shut off main water supply before removing stops.

Check-Valve Cleaning

Unscrew check-valves (26); soak in water/vinegar for build-up and check spring action.
