MTDS REGULATOR OPERATING PROCEDURE: (Only Applicable for
RO+UV+MTDS Models)
TDS modulator is located inside the product. As per factory setting, it comes in fully
closed mode. TDS level of output water can be increased by slowly loosening the
spindle of the TDS modulator (anticlockwise). Normally, a slight quarter turn is
enough to increase the TDS of the output water. Rotating the spindle in the clockwise
direction closes the TDS modulator and reduces the level of TDS blending.
Please note that the TDS blending, and its adjustment is dependent upon the level of
TDS of input water and on the TDS reduction capacity of the RO membrane. TDS
adjustment should be done by the authorised Eureka Forbes technician only.

Overview

The Aquaguard Jazz is a water purifier designed to provide safe and healthy drinking water through various purification technologies. It comes in different models: UV+UF, RO, and RO+UV+MTDS, each offering a distinct set of features to address diverse water conditions.

Function Description:

The core function of the Aquaguard Jazz is to purify input water, removing impurities and making it safe for consumption. Depending on the model, it employs a multi-stage purification process.

For the Aquaguard Jazz UV+UF model, the purification process begins with the i-Filter™, a multi-layered polypropylene roving wound cartridge that removes fine suspended particles like dust, dirt, mud, and sand. Following this, the Chemi-Block (with a built-in Particle Trap Filter™) utilizes a dust-free bacteriostatic activated carbon block to reduce excess chlorine, bad odor, color, and organic impurities, while also removing very fine turbidity-causing particles. The water then passes through an Ultra Filter, which is a capillary tube type membrane-based technology that imparts crystal clear clarity and ensures the water is safe from bacteriological contamination. The UV e-boiling stage uses a germicidal UV lamp to disinfect the water by eliminating waterborne disease-causing bacteria, viruses, and protozoa. Finally, the Active Copper™ stage, featuring a bacteriostatic taste enhancer with Active Copper™ technology, infuses copper, known for its antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties that support healthy metabolism and provide energy. This stage also removes organic components and polishes the water for a sparkling look and great taste.

The Aquaguard Jazz RO model incorporates a similar initial filtration process with the i-Filter™ and Chemi-Block. However, it then introduces a Membrane Life Enhancer (a special anti-scalant media) to prevent scaling of dissolved salts on the membrane surface, thereby extending the membrane's life and performance. The crucial purification step in this model is the Reverse Osmosis (RO) Cartridge, which uses a Thin Film Composite (TFC) Reverse Osmosis Membrane to reduce TDS, hardness, pesticides, and heavy metals like arsenic, lead, and mercury, while also eliminating microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, protozoa, and cysts. The process concludes with the Active Copper™ stage, similar to the UV+UF model, for taste enhancement and health benefits.

The Aquaguard Jazz RO+UV+MTDS model combines the benefits of both RO and UV technologies, along with a TDS Regulator (MTDS). After the initial i-Filter™ and Chemi-Block stages, it includes the Membrane Life Enhancer and the Reverse Osmosis Cartridge for comprehensive impurity removal. The UV e-boiling stage then provides additional disinfection against microorganisms. The Active Copper™ stage further enhances taste and adds health benefits. A unique feature of this model is the TDS Regulator, a mechanical system that allows for adjustment of the purified water's TDS level to provide healthy water. This modulator is located inside the product and, as per factory setting, comes in a fully closed mode. The TDS level of output water can be increased by slowly loosening the spindle of the TDS modulator (anticlockwise). A slight quarter turn is usually sufficient to increase the TDS. Rotating the spindle in the clockwise direction closes the TDS modulator and reduces the level of TDS blending. This adjustment should only be performed by an authorized Eureka Forbes technician.

Usage Features:

The Aquaguard Jazz is designed for user convenience and safety. It can be placed on a kitchen counter or wall-mounted in a dry, ventilated area, away from direct sunlight, heating devices, or freezing temperatures. It should also be in an area free of pests.

Before installation, the input water must be tested for Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) and Total Hardness to ensure compatibility with the purifier's capabilities. The input tap water temperature should be between 10°-40°C; installation to a hot water tap is to be avoided as it can damage the filters.

Input water pressure is a critical factor. For Jazz RO+UV+MTDS/RO models, the pressure should be between 0.3 kg/cm² and 3.0 kg/cm². For Jazz UV+UF, it should be between 0.3 kg/cm² and 2.0 kg/cm². If the input pressure exceeds the specified limit, a Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) is mandatory. If the pressure is below the specified limit, a booster pump is recommended. These accessories are available at an extra cost.

Before initial use, the filters must be flushed thoroughly and independently for 3-5 minutes to remove fine particles. After installation, the purifier should be run for 10 minutes, and this initial water should be drained.

The device includes LED indicators to provide clear status updates. For the RO model, a blue LED indicates power is ON, and a green LED indicates the tank is full. If the blue LED is ON and green is OFF but there is no water in the tank, users are advised to check the input water supply and filter conditions. For the UV+UF and RO+UV+MTDS models, a combination of red, green, and blue LEDs glow sequentially for 1 second upon power-up. A solid blue LED indicates power availability. A blinking green LED (at 0.5 secs rate for 30 secs or continuously) indicates tank filling. A solid green LED indicates the tank is full. Error conditions like UV lamp error, SV/pump error, or LPS error (no input water) are indicated by blinking red or blue LEDs at different rates.

The Aquaguard Jazz also has usage limitations based on input water quality. If the iron content in the input water exceeds 0.3 mg/litre, an iron remover is recommended as a pre-treatment. If turbidity is more than 5 NTU or colloidal particles are present, a special pre-filter is required. For input water with TDS over 1,000 ppm (mg/L) or hardness over 300 ppm (mg/L), a Membrane Life Enhancer is recommended. The purifier should not be installed if the TDS exceeds the technical specifications.

Maintenance Features:

Regular maintenance is crucial for the optimal performance and longevity of the Aquaguard Jazz. The storage tank must be cleaned periodically, at least once every 30 days, using a disinfectant tablet. These tablets can be purchased from an authorized service center. The cleaning process involves draining the tank completely, switching off the purifier, wiping the inside of the tank with a dry, clean soft cloth, and then refilling the tank with water and dropping a disinfection tablet. After 30 minutes, this water and the first subsequent filling should be discarded. This disinfection process must be carried out by an authorized installation person/service technician during initial installation and every subsequent mandatory servicing.

Users are advised to drain the water if it hasn't been used for over 48 hours. The flow restrictor should be checked and replaced by an authorized service technician during mandatory service or in-service calls. Replacement of consumable cartridges should also be done by trained Eureka Forbes technicians using genuine parts.

A quick checklist is provided in the manual to help users troubleshoot common issues. For example, if water tastes bad, users should check if the tank is clean, if water has been stored for too long, or if it's time to change the filter. If less water is purified, users should check the tap water valve, input water pressure, or if filters are clogged/damaged. If water doesn't flow into the storage tank, users should ensure the overhead tank is filled and the main water supply tap is open. For any leaks, users are advised to close the tap water valve, unplug the power cord, and call an authorized service technician.

Consumable cartridges like the i-Filter™, Chemi-Block, Active Copper™ Cartridge, UF Filter, UV Lamp, and RO Membrane have an average service life, which varies by model and usage conditions. These components are subject to normal wear and tear and are not covered under warranty, except for the RO membrane which has a specific warranty period.
