Overview

The AQUAPRO AP300SP, AP960SP, and AP1360SP are solar panel and pump kits designed to create water features in backyards, including water fountains, water features, and bird baths. These DC solar pumps are manufactured with advanced technology to provide quality solar pump solutions.

Function Description:

These kits consist of a solar panel and a pump, operating directly off solar energy. The pump is designed for outdoor use and requires the solar panel to be placed in direct sunlight with its solar cells facing the sun for optimal performance. The pump's performance is dependent on sunlight intensity and the incident angle at which sunlight strikes the panel surface. The pump features a built-in dry-run protection function, which stops the pump if its two sensor points on the housing are not submerged in water. A small hole opening in the center of the impeller, protruding through the ceramic shaft, acts as a cooling channel for the motor and must be kept unblocked at all times. The pump's flow rate can be adjusted using a flow valve on the front of the pump. The pumps are continuous rated, meaning they are designed for continuous operation without requiring short breaks for cooling.

Usage Features:

  • Advanced Low Voltage Motor: Features a DC current, brushless motor design.
  • Built-in Flow Adjuster: Allows users to alter the water flow rate directly from the pump.
  • Low Water Level Cutout: Automatically cuts power to the pump when water levels are low, preventing dry running.
  • Energy Efficient: Operates directly from solar energy, making it an eco-friendly choice.
  • Eco-Friendly: Offers an exceptional low dB noise rating with minimal mechanical vibration.
  • Tool-less Assembly: Designed for easy maintenance without the need for special tools.
  • Plug and Play Installation: Simple to install due to its plug and play design and extra low voltage electrical system.
  • Multiple Fountain Nozzles: Includes various nozzles for different water effects.
  • Robust Bearing and Shaft Design: Ensures durability and eliminates the need for oil/grease lubrication.
  • Single Moving Part: The pump has a single impeller set, enabling easy cleaning and maintenance.
  • Placement: For optimal fountain effect, the fountain head or nozzle should be positioned 5-10cm above the water surface. It is recommended to keep the pump off the water feature base to avoid drawing in waste and debris. A household brick can be used for this purpose.
  • Tubing Connection: If connecting tubing, it is recommended to use one of the riser stems from the fountain kit pushed inside a 13mm hose. Hot water can be used to soften and expand the tube for a better fit. Stainless steel hose clamps should be used to fasten the hose securely.
  • Solar Panel Installation: The solar panel can be installed on a lawn or garden by jabbing the spike into the ground. The panel's orientation should be adjusted to face the sun, and the screw on the back tightened to secure it.
  • Submersion: The pump must be fully submerged in water during operation.
  • Water Quality: Designed for use in fresh, clean water only, such as in bird baths or water features. Not suitable for use with chemicals, solvents, or gasoline.
  • Voltage: Must only be supplied with DC power within the specified voltage range. Do not connect to AC voltage power supply.
  • Solar Panel Care: The solar panel contains glass components; avoid dropping, striking, or crushing it. Clean with soft tissue or glass cleaning solutions.
  • Pump Sizing: It is recommended to select a pump that is adequately sized for the required job; if in doubt, choose a larger model.

Maintenance Features:

  • Regular Cleaning: The filter screen can clog over time, so regular cleaning (at least once a month) is essential to maintain strong water flow. Failure to maintain the unit can lead to a burnt-out motor or other damage, as Aquapro DC Solar Pumps are water-cooled and restriction can cause overheating.
  • Disconnection Before Maintenance: Always disconnect the power supply from the solar panel before attempting any maintenance or adjustments. Unplug the pump from the solar panel when not in use by grasping the plug, not the cable.
  • Impeller Maintenance: The motor unit is encapsulated with epoxy resin and does not require lubrication. Regular inspections, cleaning, and maintenance of the impeller are necessary for a longer lifespan.
  • Cleaning Procedure:
    1. Disconnect tubing/fountain kit from the pump.
    2. Press on the bottom of the filter housing and move it away from the pump.
    3. Turn the impeller cover clockwise to the end, then carefully pull the impeller cover and flow valve away.
    4. Lift out the impeller assembly, taking care not to break the ceramic shaft.
    5. Clean the impeller with clean water and a suitable brush, removing fine sediment from the back end of the impeller. Replace if necessary.
    6. Clean the housing and pump with a suitable brush, removing sludge, algae, and debris.
    7. Reassemble the pump in reverse sequence.
    8. Reconnect the pump.
  • Impeller Replacement: If the impeller assembly becomes worn or damaged, it should be replaced (available from dealers or special orders). Failure to do so can cause serious damage to the pump.
  • Cable Integrity: Do not cut the cable, as this will void the warranty.
  • Temperature Limits: Do not install or store the appliance where it will be exposed to extreme hot or cold temperatures. Do not use in water above 35°C.
  • Cable Arrangement: Arrange the power cable carefully to prevent accidental tripping or pulling.
  • Professional Repair: Do not attempt to repair the electrical appliance yourself. Return to an authorized service center or place of purchase if a fault occurs, unless it is regular maintenance required by the user.
