This document is an installation guide and instruction manual for the Aquatic Access Pool Lift Model IGAT-180 AD. It provides comprehensive information on the device's installation, operation, maintenance, and technical specifications.
Function Description:
The Aquatic Access Pool Lift Model IGAT-180 AD is a water-powered lift designed to enable physically impaired individuals to access water activities in a pool. It operates using city/household water pressure, eliminating the need for electricity. The lift is designed with safety as a primary concern, providing a secure and reliable means of entry and exit from the pool. The lift's operation is controlled via a knob, allowing the user or an attendant to raise and lower the seat. The seat can rotate automatically, facilitating easy transfer into and out of the pool.
Important Technical Specifications:
- Lifting Capacity: 350 lb. @ 55-65 PSI / 159 kg @ 3.8-4.5 Bars operating pressure (10% higher if static pressure).
- Static Load Test: 525 lb. / 238 kg.
- Operation: Standard city water pressure generally provides sufficient pressure for normal operation. A pump can be used to raise pressure if necessary, but a high-volume pump should be avoided. The correct pump provides three to five gallons (US) per minute at 40 PSI (2.8 Bar) to 70-PSI (4.8 Bar) maximum pressure.
- Rotation: Automatic 180° Turn.
- Materials: Constructed from 304 & 316L Stainless steel, UHMW plastic, Brass, and Rubber, ensuring durability and resistance to pool chemicals and elements.
- Overall Size: Height 110" (2790 mm).
- Range of Motion: Standard lift provides 44″ (1124 mm) vertical travel. Custom travel can be provided.
- Socket Placement: The centerline of the socket should be a minimum of 36" from any pool edge or obstruction, with 48" recommended. It should also be at least 4" away from any expansion joint. The socket is installed flush with the deck surface.
- Water Pressure Requirements: Optimal operation at 60-PSI static pressure or 55 PSI operating (open flow) pressure to lift 350 lbs. If static water pressure exceeds 70 PSI, a reducer must be used to prevent damage to the lift.
Usage Features:
- Water-Powered Operation: No electricity is required, simplifying installation and reducing electrical hazards.
- Adjustable Seat Height: The seat height can be adjusted by choosing the appropriate hole on the piston rod frame.
- Footrest and Headrest: The IGAT-180AD normally includes a footrest, which can be adjusted for desired length. An optional headrest can also be installed.
- Seat Belts: Seat belts are installed by sliding them through slots on the side edges of the seat, enhancing user safety.
- Safety Procedures: The manual outlines critical safety guidelines, including:
- One person on the lift at a time.
- Keeping fingers, towels, and loose clothing away from moving parts.
- Not hanging towels or robes on the lift.
- Not allowing people to climb on or hang from the lift.
- No playing or rough-housing on or around the lift.
- No jumping or diving from the lift.
- Turning off the water supply when the lift is unused for eight hours or longer.
- Ensuring the swimmer is settled in the seat before operation.
- Not exceeding weight and pressure limits.
- Not using the lift during electrical storms or high winds.
- Draining water from the cylinder before exposing the lift to freezing temperatures.
- Never using oil or petroleum-based products inside the cylinder.
- Recommendation for another person to be nearby during operation, even if the occupant is operating the lift.
- Portability: The lift can be removed without tools and stored out of sight, and it drops into the socket for use.
- Transporting the Lift: Instructions are provided for lowering the seat, turning off the control knob, disconnecting the water line, lifting the unit out of the socket, and placing a socket cover over the socket in the deck.
Maintenance Features:
- Daily Inspection: The lift should be inspected daily for hose damage, loose connections, corrosion, or damage to any parts before use.
- Quarterly Inspection: A more thorough inspection is recommended every three months for year-round use, including examining bolts for corrosion/wear, checking lanyard and pull-pin wear, and inspecting screws and hose clamps for tightness.
- Cleaning: Stainless steel components discolored by chlorine or other chemicals should be cleaned with a soft cloth or Scotchbrite® pad, followed by rinsing and applying car wax to maintain appearance. Steel wool should not be used.
- Deck Inspection: For lifts installed in a wood deck, the deck should be checked for signs of decay, and worn or damaged decking replaced as necessary.
- Piston Seal Replacement: Detailed instructions are provided for disassembling the lift, removing and inspecting the O-ring and seal, cleaning the cylinder, and reassembling the piston rod assembly. It emphasizes not using oil or petroleum-based products inside the cylinder.
- Piston and/or Top Guide Replacement: Step-by-step guide for removing and replacing the piston and/or top cylinder bushing, including proper orientation of the threaded holes in the top bushing.
- Rub Block Replacement: Instructions for replacing the rub block, including using a small block of wood or plastic to spread the piston rod and piston frame apart.
- Seat Shell Replacement: Procedure for replacing the seat shell, which involves unscrewing nuts, attaching the seat frame to the new shell, and potentially drilling lower holes.
- Valve Assembly Replacement: Instructions for disconnecting the water supply, removing hoses, unscrewing the brass nut, and installing a new valve assembly.
- Valve Stem Replacement: Guide for disconnecting water, unscrewing the brass nut, applying lithium grease to the new valve stem, and reinserting it into the valve assembly, ensuring proper alignment.
- Troubleshooting Guide: A table listing common symptoms (e.g., seat bounces on descent, lift rises slower, water leakage), their causes, and remedies. This includes issues like air in the cylinder, low water pressure, high/low pH water, corrosion, and improper grounding.
- Warranty: The IGAT pool lift carries a 6-year Limited Warranty on all structural components and a 2-year Limited Warranty on the valve, plastic, and rubber components.
