requirements, typically between 6 and 8 inches.
For Standard Surface Mount Post item 5526: If using j-bolts, dig a hole deep enough to properly support the box
(about 18") and to allow the box to sit at the specified height. If using concrete anchors in preexisting concrete,

Overview

The Oasis Eclipse Mailbox (Model 6400) is a secure and functional mailbox designed to accept mail and small parcels, offering a degree of security for deliveries until they can be retrieved. This document provides comprehensive instructions for its mounting and usage.

Mounting Instructions

The mailbox comes fully assembled and requires proper mounting in accordance with USPS requirements to ensure carrier access. It can be mounted on optional mailbox posts offered by the manufacturer (sold separately) or on a wooden post using the optional 4x4 Adapter (item 7540B-10, also sold separately).

Key Mounting Specifications and Requirements:

  • Contact Local Post Office: Before installation, customers are required to contact their local Post Office to confirm correct placement and height at the street.
  • Height: Generally, mailboxes are installed at a height of 41-45 inches from the road surface to the inside floor of the mailbox or the point of mail entry (for locked designs).
  • Set-back: The mailbox should be set back 6-8 inches from the front face of the curb or road edge to the mailbox door.

Mounting Procedures for Specific Post Types:

1. For 3" Round In-ground Post (item 7507 or 7516) or Standard In-ground Post (item 5105 or 5525): * Digging the Hole: Dig a hole deep enough to allow the mailbox to sit at the specified height (41-45 inches from road level to mailbox floor). * Set-back: Ensure the hole is set back 6-8 inches from the curb or road edge to the mailbox face, meeting local post office requirements. * Concrete Pour: Pour approximately 1 cubic foot of concrete completely around the post. * Leveling: Ensure the post and mailbox are level and correctly positioned according to local post office guidelines.

2. For Standard Surface Mount Post (item 5526): * J-bolts: If using j-bolts, dig a hole deep enough (about 18 inches) to properly support the box and allow it to sit at the specified height. Pour concrete around the j-bolts held in the correct pattern. * Concrete Anchors: If using concrete anchors in pre-existing concrete, ensure anchor positions allow for the specified height and set-back (6-8 inches from curb). * Installation: Install anchors in the correct pattern into dry concrete.

3. Attaching the Mailbox to the Post: * For 3" Round In-ground Post (item 7507 or 7516) or Standard Posts (items 5105, 5525 or 5526), attach the mailbox to the post using the hardware included with the post. * Important Note on Alternative Mounting Methods: The mailbox features specific mounting bolt patterns on the bottom designed for adequate strength and stability. It is crucial not to drill new mounting holes into the mailbox floor. Doing so may compromise the product's function, strength, or corrosion resistance, and will void the warranty. If using a post from another manufacturer or an existing post, a bracket should be created to utilize the existing holes in the mailbox floor. * Hardware: Mounting hardware to attach the mailbox to existing posts or posts from other manufacturers is not included. Compatible mounting hardware is included with all Architectural Mailboxes posts, sold separately.

  • Procedure: To leave mail for carrier pickup, place the mail under the outgoing clip and raise the flag.
