This document provides technical data and a service manual for the Argo AMG21SDT and AMG21CDT units, which appear to be portable air conditioners or dehumidifiers. The manual, dated May 2004, covers specifications, dimensional data, electrical data, refrigerant flow, functional descriptions, performance data, and troubleshooting.
The Argo AMG21SDT/AMG21CDT units are designed for both cooling and dehumidification operations.
Cooling Operation: The unit controls room temperature by cycling the compressor ON and OFF based on readings from the room temperature sensor (TH1). When the compressor is turned off, the control circuit implements a minimum 3-minute delay before restarting to protect the compressor from stalling due to high-side refrigerant pressure. If the room temperature is 1°C above the set temperature, the compressor will start, provided it has been OFF for at least 3 minutes. The compressor stops when the room temperature is at or below the set temperature.
Heat Exchanger Frosting Prevention: During cooling, the electronic control automatically stops the compressor if the coil sensor (TH1) reaches 1°C for 8-10 minutes. The compressor will automatically restart when the heat exchanger temperature reaches 8°C, and the fan will operate at its set speed. This feature prevents ice buildup on the evaporator coil, ensuring efficient operation.
Dry Operation (Dehumidification): In dehumidification mode, the unit operates without an air exhausting tube. The compressor runs continuously, and the fan operates at a low speed. The ambient thermistor is bypassed. If the ambient temperature reaches 10°C, the compressor will turn off after 10 minutes. This mode is designed to remove moisture from the air effectively.
